Wasn't it technically The Fox Lounge 1 (but there was no Fox Lounge 2)? Also, they were famous for karaoke right? And like a weird salsa or taco bar or something. It was kind of where Aldi's is now if I'm not mistaken.

The Fox Lounge 2 was on Hickman in Windsor Heights.

There used to be a bar across the street from where the Chick-Fil-A is called The Fox. But it was famous for All You Can Drink Wednesday and the worlds smallest patio.

Wasn't it actually where Chipotle sits on Duff and S 5th street? It was across the street to the north of the old movie theater (can't remember the name of that theater).

Thursdays at the Fox, iirc was 3 pitchers for 6 bucks.
Either Thursdays or Fridays had a free appetizer bar.

That sounds right. I don’t live in Ames so wasn’t sure what was there now. Maybe a Mattress Firm.

I'm sure this has been discussed in this thread but I'm too lazy to go back through 44 pages worth. Where the current CVS is on the corner of Welch and Lincoln what has all been there over the years? Sort of looking for what was there prior to 2011. Headliners?

It was Peoples for a long time. Then a restaurant that didn't do well (big surprise). Then Headliners. Then Charlie Yokes.

There was a Fox Lounge in Marshalltown in the 80’s. It was around the corner from where I grew up on Southridge Road. It became a law firm, no idea what it is now.

I'm guessing they don't do this anymore, but RIP to the Putt-Putt bar crawl they used to do. That was an amazing event in the summer. 9 bars, each bar had to design their own hole, and you had to get your scorecard stamped at each one.

Ah, Charlie Yokes. Mixed drink mugs. Cheap fishbowls. So packed you can't move. Eardrum-bursting music.

That is correct

They weren't there very long though.
Quickly to the assessor's site for historic photos/aerials (or historic google streetview) - a man after my own pointless-excessive-search-for-detail heart!! :)

The Georges in Nevada is separate from the one that used to be in Ames. Different owners, different style. It's still around (moved to Main Street) and is a longtime classic as well. Original husband/wife owners used to chainsmoke and fight like cats and dogs while making pizzas in the 80s and 90s.

There is a George's Pizza in Pella that has a good local reputation...I think it has been around in various locations since the 70s, so they may be related. They have Gyros too like the I think the old S Duff one did.

That would be awesome. I'm sad I never experienced this.

Anybody ever get a Raging Bull there? Don't remember what was all in it but it had alcohol and Red Bull.

Was the chain smoker that ran the place named Rhonda? For some reason I can picture her and the name Rhonda just seems to fit.

I cant remember but she was always there with her long ass cigarettes. She was gruff but was pretty cool when you got to know her. Hell I meet my wife there after a KU basketball game.

I only remember a bartender. Tony or Tyler, something along those lines.

Their was a Brandy in my time who my wife knew and we usually just ended up with free pitches. I had a fox 1 lounge shirt and a snap up button jacket from there at 1 point. They stored there merch in the attic.
