Not exactly sure.
Didn't Cheez have a high level recruit (Johnson?) that sent his LOI and his mom started a **** storm because she wanted him to go to an SEC school? Worked out in our favor since the kid was 18 and did not need mom's permission.

Hopefully she kept the SEC cash even though she did not deliver the goods.
Sedrick Johnson. Probably would have been best had he went to the SEC for him, his mom, and us.

I had someone offer me free tickets, I was set to go and my wife vetoed that so we could go to Cedar Falls and watch high school football instead.
Oldest was in JH, his HS was in the state championship, we blew out of their late in the fourth quarter to hit the ISU game. It was glorious.

Wow that is a pure load of bull****. Some lowlife hoks should be ashamed of themselves and will most certainly have to eat their words. Pitiful hoks, stooping lower than their usual lowness. Just can't bring themselves to admit that Iowa State beat them out for a prized, in-state recruit that they thought they had all wrapped. Arrogant SOB's. Something tells me that Hunter Deyo is going to really really enjoy crushing some hok pieces of ****. Obligatory, **** the hoks.

Addendum: same goes for the pussyKats.

From a Hawkeye poster, says the guy who posted it here.
It was texted to me from a HOK I know. He is spewing the same rhetoric though, that Deyo's grades will make him ineligible, won't be able to qualify, that he will have to go to Iowa Western, that his offer was not committable to the HOK's, blah, blah, blah.

Actually the hoks and pussyKats are pretty much the same thing. Loathsome creatures that share a lot of similarities. ****'em both. I love their angst over us getting Deyo.

More about Hunter, growing up, football, future plans

“What made me stick with football is that I just love the sport,” he said. “I never got a drive other than that. Every single time I touched the field, my heart started pumping and racing and all that. There’s no other feeling like that. That’s what made me go back to it and go back to it.” …

“The first thing is his relentless ability just to continue to press and run and cause havoc on both the offensive side and defensive side. Obviously, he’s recruited to play defense. It’s his ability just to play hard and play tough and play physical.”

It’s not only his talents on the field that have impressed his coaches over the years. His ability to relate with teammates is one of his biggest strengths off the field.

“Just his outgoing personality has really helped him off the field in that aspect,” Kammrad said. “He’s (also) bought time into the weight room.” …

yep, my Hawkeye friend is adamant about the grades thing and that Iowa knew about it for a long time. He said they couldn't take his commitment until he got them up

Because if they tied up an offer to Deyo, they might miss out on a commitment from........
If iowa was at risk of being overcommitted, I could see where they would be concerned about him not qualifying. But they could have easily taken his commitment contingent on getting his grades up and then not announce it since they are having a little trouble filling scholarships right now. It's no risk to Deyo because if he can't get into iowa then he won't be able to get into ISU either so he still misses out on the same opportunities by committing to ISU. It's no risk to iowa because if he somehow doesn't make grades, they quietly pull the scholarship and give it to....

This person stated that coaches weren't blown away by his performance when he competed in front of them. I call BS. When did this happen? Covid did not allow this before June and then he only took two visits. One to Iowa State and one to Iowa. I don't think he attended any camps this summer.

The fact the Iowa staff leaked this to their favorable press to soften the blow of not getting him seems... low class, desperate, pathetic, petty, and unbecoming of a lady. They should be ashamed.
