Hulu app - why why why

I enjoy Hulu's content and I've been subscribed for a long time. We use it nearly every day. What is driving me to the edge of cancelling is that their app has the worst interface of any streaming app I have and every time they do an update, it gets worse. It's just awful. Opened it today and the things I was recently watching section is completely gone, and the show I was in the middle of (King of the Hill) is buried somewhere. When I did find it, I was sent to season 1 episode 1. The lines are still there to show me I've watched the episodes but it refuses to tell me which one I watched last. And why link with a line ABOVE the item!?!

I have it on two Rokus and a Firestick, all the high horsepower versions. If I were a developer there I would be mortified to be associated with the product. The Netflix app works fine. Disney, Prime, ESPN - all fine. Hulu - JUNK.

It is just me or am I the only one who hates this app?

Best content for the money. Agree on the interface.

The interface sucks. Content used to suck too, but seems to be getting marginally better.

I wish all these services would have the option on every episode, season, and movie to mark as watched, even if not watched through their service. With content moving between streamers, this gets annoying having my suggestions be things I’ve already watched.

Happy (mostly) Hulu+ user here. Agree on the UI. Here's what I can contribute. We have a Roku that doesn't turn off when we turn off the TV. If you don't reset the Roku to the home screen and leave Hulu on with the TV off, it totally horses up your viewing history. Going to the home screen between viewings doesn't solve all the viewing history issues, but it solves quite a few.

I suspect this issue could arise with other apps besides Hulu.

Max does this to me since it switch from HBO Max to Max. It's annoying AF. It won't keep track of my progress on shows.
Max is the second worst. The interface is better than Hulu but it can't keep track of things and it crashes. Hulu doesn't crash, it just sits there and sucks.

The dumbest part is that everything was perfectly fine before the switch to the new app. All they needed was a new skin on the app but ****** it up somehow.

Same thing happened to me with Bob's Burgers so I went and found the episode I left off on. Minor inconvenience but definitely not enough for ne to consider canceling.

What's frustrating to me is that it rarely keeps track of your progress in an episode. I'll back out, have 5-10 minutes left, and it'll show that I've almost finished the episode. But when I click in, it starts at the beginning about 75% of the time.

It's certainly not just that. Every time they do a release, the product is worse. It would be awesome to be able to just say one time, "hey, that's a nice addition". Instead of the usual "this sucks more than it did before".

My main pet peeve on streaming apps is the stupid auto play. I don't want video to start up just because I stopped to look at something. Annoys the **** out of me. I know some of them allow you to shut that off, but a lot of them start doing it again after an update.

How recent is this new app because the app looks the same from the last few years and I don’t have a ton of complaints.

Hulu can't seem to get the closed captioning right. It's a known bug but they can't fix it.

Losing your spot in a show like "King of the Hill" because of a poorly designed interface is enough to drive me nuts!
Since you mentioned ESPN's app works fine, if you’re ever considering expanding what you watch and are curious about how to watch ESPN plus, you might find it a smoother experience. I found a straightforward guide that could help you out.

My complaints on Hulu is minimal, but something that has been discussed for like two years now:

1. you can't order your channels guide, like you can in YTTV. you can create favorites, but not sure why this is so hard for them.
2. This seems like all the streaming platforms, but why can they make it picture-in-picture when you are flipping through the guide? First world issues, but it's nice, especially during live events, to be able to keep tabs on what's going on while you are looking for something else.
3. they do not have Multiview
EDIT: 4. I don't care for any streaming services rewind or fast forwarding from a roku or apple remote.

one of the reasons I stay is because of the ESPN/Disney integration. I really like to be able to have ESPN + built into my guide. if I want to watch ISU versus Kansas Softball, its unlimitedin my guide w/o having to exit into another app. I don't mind the price, selection and the unlimted TV's for 10 bucks

Does anyone else's Live TV "glitch" at the beginning of every new show? I've gotten so used to it at this point that I barely notice it, but it can be super annoying.
