2 dead in argument over Ala.-LSU football game

EVERGREEN, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say an argument over Saturday's Alabama-LSU football game led to the shooting deaths of a couple at a home in southern Alabama.
Prosecutors identified the victims as Dennis and Donna Smith of Brewton. The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Saturday at the home of Michael Williams in the rural community of Owassa.
Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of murder.
Investigators told the Press-Register newspaper in Mobile that Dennis Smith, an LSU fan, called Williams, an Alabama fan, after Alabama's 27-21 overtime win and an argument ensued.
The Smiths went to Williams home. Investigators said Smith had a pistol and Williams had a shotgun and fired. Donna Smith was a relative of Williams' girlfriend.

So the two that were killed, called the shooter.

And then proceeded to go to his house AND had a pistol?

But this guy is being charged with MURDER?

Granted, details are sketchy. But if somebody shows at my house, with a beef that his team just got beat (yes, irrational) and shows WITH a pistol - I think getting ahold of my 12 GA seems appropriate.

Sad, stupid and whatever other adjective you'd like to toss in there.

I can't remember the exact percentage, but spousal abuse almost doubles in Nebraska when the Huskers lose.
"How did you get the black eye?"
"Marlon Lucky fumbled in the red zone."

Re: It's just a Game

I hate it when people tell me its just a game. Especially when it comes to the Cubs. Sorry but its more than just a game to me. I wouldn't go as far as these people did but I don't like to be around people when I am watching a game, especially a big one. I just get too emotional.

I gotta agree. It's more than a game when you get so emotionally (and financially) invested. It's certainly not worth dying for but it's a big deal.

Nope, it isn't a big deal. It really is just a game. I truly feel for people who can't understand that.

I partly agree. I get very emotionally involved as well as buy tickets and its an important part of my life, but all in all its a ways down my list of priorities in life.

Re: It's just a Game

Personally, having kids put things into perspective for me. I used to get pretty bummed about ISU athletics, feeling like crap for a few days after a bad loss, etc. But after kids it really doesn't matter. There are a lot worse things that I could go through than the suffering I am put through as an ISU fan. Nowadays I feel like crap for maybe like 5 minutes after a game like we had last Saturday.

If that makes me any less of a fan, so be it. Just a different perspective.

Being an ISU puts things in perspective. If we ever got used to winning maybe things would change but as an ISU fan you can't live your life through the team or you'll need a lot of counseling.

This reminds, what time is our session tomorrow?

I need to regroup in our therapy group by 5:30 saturday, oh, and I'll need to remember to schedule our session even earlier next week.

So this dude actually had time to think about this logically while driving to the couple's home and still shot them? Wow.

Not that it's any better if the confrontation was face to face and he shot them, but it sort of is.
