Wanna experience some real hate? Venture onto the political threads. Intolerance for anything conservative is mandatory over there.

Hate? No. But you need to support your positions.

There's been a real lack of support for conservative thought or even a good definition of conservative.

So it's probably best you don't venture to the political side.

But Cyclone fans are the best.

Wahhhhh...now everyone can see why baby.

Your response comes off as an attempt to prove his point. Heck, you do not even try to deny his point, rather accepting it while choosing to mock him over it.

I do not remember if this is Monty Python or what, but I remember an exchange once like...

Protester: "This regime is violent, oppressive, and murderous!"

Regime flunky: "No, we are not! Now, have this man arrested and public executed!"

I can only imagine you haven’t been here that long. There’s a difference between intolerance for conservatives and intolerance for excusing trumpism guised as conservatism. 2008-2016 proves that.

Something I love about rural places is that imo people are more able to actually coexist despite differences.

Cities/areas that are hard-core leaning one way or another just nod in agreement without having to have much of a conversation.

I respectfully say bull ****. First three years teaching in my current job I went out of town to buy booze. Only reason this stopped is the new principal started buying beer in town and when the community complained the superintendent backed him up. Still keeping it under wraps that I am agnostic, that would probably cause me some serious head aches. It probably helps that rural communities tend to be more homogeneous in terms of race, culture, and beliefs both political and spiritual.

I am glad that has been your experience. Having grown up in a town of about 12,000, the move to a town of about 1,500 has been eye opening.

Life on CF is easy:

Don't criticize Steve Prohm
Hate the hawks
Hate ku
Like beer, but only certain beers at certain times
Like good food, but don't take a hard stand on pizza or BBQ
Pay cash for cars and houses
Realize that gouging other Cyclone fans on CF for tickets makes you a better person than someone who gouges people somewhere else
Always disagree with @CNECloneFan and @ArgentCy
Don't make @Cyclonepride mad
Always buy @ChrisMWilliams a lap dance if applicable

I suppose it would depend on the situation. I grew up in one of those communities of 1,500 and went to college in one of 12,000 and the one with 12,000 was way worse, and that was a college town!

But the spot I grew up, there's people I definitely don't agree with on politics or religion and they're still some of the best people I know.

Now if it's someone like the MAGA clan hiding behind Christianity and, say, harassing a Native American elder like was reported today, that's a different conversation.

I don’t even believe there is much respect on here.
Sadly, I believe 'lack of respect' is becoming standard in our society today. I grew up to respect every one and every thing. But, it seems the same upbringing is either changing or disappearing because I just see lack of respect everywhere. Whether it's throwing a cigarette on the ground, backstabbing or trash talking, it's prevalent everywhere. That said, it may just be my 'perspective' may be too astute or aware as I grow old. Regardless, the kids I respect the most are the ones that 'Yes sir, thank you, or may I'

I only get after CNE because he gives conservitives a bad name with his rambling word salads. Other that that I do try to approach others with different view points with respect to try to understand where they are coming from.

I have browsed through a few other fan sites political caves. We are very well mannered and respectful compared to them.

There is one thing I think we all can agree upon. The Mc Dermott years were just brutally bad.

I dont see that.
Less people smoke, violent crime is down, womens equality is a serious talking point, and anti bullying campaigns are everywhere.

Now, there are issues in today's world but the world you grew up in wasnt put under a microscope like now a days.
Helicopter sports parents are a serious problem when a lot of them should show their children how to do an oil change and pull weeds in the garden instead of pushing them to be the next soccer or basketball star.

Helicopter parents in general. There's some stuff out there about how too much praise can be a detriment and create situations where a kid may grow up thinking everything they do is always great. Couple that with people in general including the parents discovering a need for affirmation through FB, Twitter, etc for everything and it's a bad mixture.

Quasi unrelated but I've had several people say they had friends that were in awful relationships/marriages but were great at making it appear to be quite the opposite on social media.

Point re: the oil change/weeds it seems like we're getting further and further away from working through a process to get to a result on our own.

Been rough around here lately for sure. Typically happy threads like snow storm and being in first place in big 12 in basketball threads people are fighting and constantly bickering. Too bad people cant squabble with each other in pms, apparently they think everyone else wants to listen to their petty ****.
