I am as big if a Mac guy as their is but if there is no post season this year it is time for a change.

+400. We are a Big 12 team and have to compete. If we do not have at least a winning record by the end of the year, that would mean four losing seasons from GMac out of a possible four seasons. Let him go or let him have one more year to produce something.

I really do believe we have a very talent team, but we aren't living up to potential.

Guess I don't see why people feel it necessary to do nothing but dog this team. Saying he'll continue to attack our players until they show we will get to the NCAAs seems pretty pathetic.

Like it or not, it's a business... The players know (or should know) what they are getting into ahead of time, that they are open to public criticism, especially if they are under preforming. Fact is if this team does not get to the tournament and continues to falter in Big 12 play then it no longer makes business sense to keep McDermott around.

Next year will be worse. Brackins is gone, unless the NBA sees that he still needs TONS of work, Gilstrap will be gone. What will ISU hang their hat on?

Very much disagreed with this. McD's teams have just as much talent as any team Morgan had if not more.

You tell me if any of morgan's teams had a top 20 player, who is or was a potential lottery pick but at least a first rounder most likely, and then one of the top juco players (who was rated top 25 between HS and JUCO by ESPN). Let's not mention the fact we had Wes Johnson who is now on track to be a top 3 NBA pick.

No, he never had that. The best ranked player Morgan had was top 75. I've been following the recruiting of this for a LONG time. McD's teams have more talent.

I work with a guy who went to Purdue, not familiar with ISU basketball at all, but he's been following it. Once he learned Johnson AND Brackins were on the same team for a few years the first thing out of his mouth was "Man, your coaching sucks. You had two first rounders on your team and still can't have a winning record? Fire your coach."

Are you really going to this argument? Morgan inherited a roster of Stinson, Blalock, Sullivan, Jefferson, Vroman, Homan. Was Staple in there too? Not too mention Carr, Clark, Jiri, ...
Furthermore, how does having one talented roster (finally) in Year 4, become McD having more talented rosters than Morgan? This is the first year anyone could say McD had a talented roster...and they still lack some in the most important spot, the backcourt. However this year, like McD's less talented teams, lack toughness.

Again, are you serious? They were on the same roster for one year...Brackins was an undersized freshman, and WJ had a broken foot...yeah, I wonder why we did ot dominate for those "few years".
Oh, you follow recruiting, and say how much better McD's has been...then you should know WJ was a nobody. McD's only top 75 recruit thus far has been Brackins. Brackins is a top 20 player (nice work McD), but unfortunately the game is 5 on 5. College basketball needs guards (poor recruiting McD).

He doesn't even deserve one more year to produce something if we don't at least make the NIT this year

I want to believe Gmac is a good coach....but none of his teams have reflected that so far...we are defenitely playing below our potential...never seem seem to play with a purpose...I hate to say it but we play lazy...I'm just very discouraged

Seems like all of the successful Iowa State teams have had those guys that busted their tail and played way better than anyone expected they would. I can't think of anyone you could say that about during the McDermott era.

Exactly. Homan is the prime example. I really do believe Stinson is an example too no matter how much people gave him ****..he was still a good player. Blalock, lots of guys.

Just think, if Brackins was as tough as Homan, and was as inspired as Homan was....he'd be unstoppable IMO.

I am missing the part where we "haven't competed with Big 12 teams". Which Big 12 teams have we played?

I don't get it. Most said this guy scared you and than act surprised when we are down by 1 at half, makes no sense. Plenty of game left.

I'm aware Johnson was a nobody, and it's because he was undersized coming out of HS. That's why he went to Michigan to prep school where he grew 5 or 6 inches. By the time he was coming out, a lot of schools were recruiting him again but he was already commited to ISU. All of the other schools came in late to the game. He did gain some attention by larger schools but it was wayyyyy too late.

College basketball needs the whole team if you want to be extremely good. Sure you can get by with two guards, but you need rebounders too.
