***Houston @ Iowa State Game Thread***

McD can no longer use lack of talent as an excuse, so I wonder what his scapgoat will be this year? I've been a supporter since he got here, but there is no longer an excuse to hold on to. how long remains on his contract?

My prediction after Iowa State wins, you all continue saying the same things and dogging this team

I think most will keep on dogging the team until the team shows signs that they will perform well enough in the Big 12 to make The Dance. A win against Houston may or may not provide those signs. So far, it would not.

I even stated depends on what team shows up will win this game...So far Houston showed up. I had this game as a toss up... ISU should win but not if they play like this

Agreed... this team needs to show they can win. Win during the conference season and win tough close games. Until this happens. Well good luck with trying to get people off the teams back and Greg's.

I think Blalock, Stinson, Sullivan, Vroman, Homan would all beg to differ with you. Plus Taggert had a drink or two here.

Sorry to say, but Stinson was ranked like #130 coming out of HS. He was recruited heavily by the NEC. He turned out to be pretty good. Blalock was maybe #105, turned out to be pretty decent. Homan had no stars, don't remember Sullivan's..Taggart was by far Morgan's best recruit. Even Rahshon Clark, a four star, was like number 75.

The reason why those guys were good is because they worked for it. Yeah, they had tons of talent, but they worked tons for it. In my opinion, we have more *talent* right now than those years, but that doesn't mean it's going to produce wins. Have to work on discipline. Sorry, but if you're a 40% shooter and take stupid shots and the other team rebounds, the odds are in their favor, not ours.

The difference between Morgan's teams and these teams is our guys take random 3's ALL THE TIME even with 26 seconds left on the shot clock without passing the ball once. At least with Morgan's teams they actually passed the ball around, creating seams in the other team's defense to find the open man who's already squared up or a guy right under the hoop. Yeah, it happens with McD's teams, but not NEARLY as much as before.

We haven't come close to playing a full game this year. I like the potential of this team, but from what I've seen there is not enough mental toughness to sustain a stretch of basketball that would put a good team away. We'll stay with a lot of teams, but ultimately our basketball IQ will do us in, IMO. That's why we're an NIT team

You're kidding right?

I love Curtis and Will but I have never seen so many fast break 3's in my life.

The difference was 2 guards that could take it to the hole, could create shots for others and themself, were physical, and score points. Dont forget Homan's leadership toughness and the fact he worked his *** off.

Wow, just wow.

I assume you're on your way to Miami right now?

With a 5-11 record in conference you think we make the NIT?

Whooaaaa.. Did you watch these teams??? They fired up alot of ill advised 3's also. Problem was, they rebounded. Stinson and Blalock couldn't hit a 3 to save their lives but still shot them. And alot of them. We had people willing to rebound including our guards.

They also played fast and loose... I don't recall the team passing it around a ton. Just alot of driving down the lane creating the oportunity to pass out to an open person. They didn't play a pass offense, it was all run and gun.

Well, it's going to be hard to come up with "proof" unless someone has every game footage and watches/takes notes again, but even if true, there's no denying we take too many one off three pointers without setting up anything.

It could be coaching, or it could be the intelligence of the players. I'm not sure
