Looking for a place to go in January of 2013.

Where can you get good deals? Is all inclusive the way to go?

Someplace warm, but want a little more to do than just beaches. Like to hike, sight-see, get out and do things, ect. Maybe a little beach time.

Was thinking Hawaii as a strong possibility, but know that can get pricey.

Honeymoon..you're doing it wrong.

I'd suggest here:

Start at the back left and work your way up front.

Not Sure, what can I expect? Was thinking maybe a 2-week trip. $4-$6K.

Is that doable?

Oh for that, if you are adventurous, I love Costa Rica. Rent a jeep and go to remote areas.

if not, Hawaii, cancun, are traditional warm tourist trap places that wives love.

in the middle.... Puerto Vallarta, aculpoco, Puerto Rico, Vegas...

you can do a lot for that.

once the flight is done, you have 3 to 4 gs from there to work with.

Well Maui, in my limited experience, is not $200/night. But if you found one that was, just flights and hotels put you at nearly $4500. So if you can spend $100/day for 2 weeks I guess you could stay in budget. Not sure about price of hotels on other islands.

If you are wanting a more active honeymoon, I would suggest Costa Rica.

I went on my honeymoon in June to the Virgin Islands. Beautiful beaches, beautiful water and great people. Rented a condo for the week through VRBO.com. This does not sound like your type of honeymoon, but check out VRBO for some great rentals and great prices.

Just remember, any trip south and/or west of mexico, and you will essentially lose two whole days due to travel.

Went to the bahamas last spring break for honeymoon and loved it. stayed at Breezes which is a ton cheaper then Sandals.

IMO you have to do all inclusive. Took a day trip to Atlantis and lunch alone was about 20 bucks a person it seemed

For Hawaii I got 10 days/9 nights for $3500 half on the Big Island, half on Oahu. 3* hotel on Big Island, the Hilton on Waikiki.

Hawaii was ridiculoulsy awesome by the way.
The $3500 included the roundtrip airfare from DSM, plus the inter-island flights, rental cars on both Islands, and all hotel fees.

I did it through custom building a trip on this website. http://www.beachdestinations.com/
I can vouch for the website being great and didn't have any problems on that end. PM if you want some more details.

My wife and I spent a week on the Big Island and a week on Oahu during our honeymoon. Loved our Big Island experience so much we immediately planned a trip back to the Big Island. It is less expensive than the other islands and just an incredible island to visit. It isn't "touristy" and yet there is so much to do! Check out rental properties as well...can be better than a hotel/resort and less expensive. Whatever you and your spouse decide...enjoy it! Five years later my wife and I still talk about our honeymoon as if it took place last month!

Big Island was great. Need to go back and spend more time at Volcano National Park.

Definitely more low-key there.
