You guys joke around but this is reason why Hilton isnt as hostile a road environment anymore under Prohm. He's had so many losses now including getting blown out a couple times and losing to Milwaukee, that teams aren't intimidated anymore.

The crowd is also alot more apprehensive since we now have a history of losing in Hilton. It used to be nobody was coming and pushing us around and the crowd knew it, let alone losing to teams under .500 in conference like our last game.

Verifying he’s the winner of the crown. This is like him pulling Excalibur’s Sword from the stone.

Who cares about Mcdermott, the program was a dumpster fire and expecting to win any games, let alone in Hilton was way too much to ask for. Prohm didnt take over for Mcdermott, Im talking about since 2010.

So it's really about the teams and not the concrete? Shocking.

Just proving to me you are even more lacking in the critical thinking department than I first assumed. Well done.

This thread is full of so much stupid over reaction it blows my mind. Some of you need to just step away from the program for a bit and find something else to do. To claim that Hilton is now a terrible place is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard, it only has to do with the recency bias of a poor performance last year coupled with losses being more evenly spread out this year. If we'd lost the first 4 conference games (including 2 at home) and went on a 7 game win streak, nobody would be making shitposts like the OP and his defenders.

I'm pretty neutral in this field. Need more consistent head scratching losses before I question Hilton Magic. However, you can't say, "if" to support your claim. If they lost when they did in the fashion they did. Folks are doing their best to make sense of it.

Didn’t read the thread so I don’t know if it was mentioned or not but in my opinion, the lighting is fine. The bigger issue is how quiet they play the music. You can barely hear the introduction song. They blast the music at Phog Allen to the point where it’s almost uncomfortable.

That being said, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed with how things have gone in Hilton the last few years.

That's two people now that have praised Phog Allen in this thread. We were there in January. I am admittedly biased, but I did NOT find the noise factor to compare to Hilton when it's hopping. The noise was artificially induced; ie: the music provided most of the noise, and then they posted a "decibel meter" on the big board during timeouts while the mascot and a couple of cheerleaders would exhort the students to make more noise to make the decibel meter hit a certain volume. It was not spontaneous crowd noise, and I much prefer crowd noise to ear-splitting music.
Okay - commence raining on my parade by calling me an old fuddy-duddy... :D

and it has a lot to do with the lighting...

Supposedly they changed the light fixtures idk like few years ago? And that affects upper deck lighting..well it sucks...it is like sitting in a morgue.

I can’t believe others in the AD and b-ball program haven’t noticed and asked for a change.

Hilton has changed and it isn’t good. The once magical arena isn’t all that intimidating to opponents when 2/3 of the place is in the dark.

I want both. Keep our fantastic spontaneous outbursts, but we need better work by the people running the sound, particularly for us peons in the balcony. The intro video just doesn't do it. Needs to be louder and make it so that the crowd is compelled to clap or yell.

If you're going to say something that's stupid and controversial at least stick around to talk about it. Beyer couldn't shut his phone off fast enough.

I dont think its just Prohm, we have been pretty average since the big12 started.

Saw this on reddit, I think it was the all time home win% for each team since their arena was built, not the win% in home arena since the big12 started.

There is no question Hilton is different. Not as loud and not as intense as it once was. It has it's moments for sure, but it will never be what it was. It will never be like the Johnny Orr era, the fan base getting into basketball was younger back then, those same fans are in their 50s now. The student sections were different back then too. Plus, Johnny himself just put his personality on the program and it lit Hilton up. Fred Hoiberg understood how Hilton worked, he was there in the Orr years, he was there for an undefeated home season in 1993, he was there for wins over 6 ranked teams in 1992. Fred knew Hilton thrives off of momentum, and put in a style of play to take advantage of that. Not so great for the road, but great at home. So without the Johnny/Fred imprint, it won't be the same. Still great compared to most areas though.
