Not all high thread count sheets are made equally. Gotta go to the store and give each one a test drive so to speak, but yes, good sheets are definitely worth it.

Uh, I don't think the stores would approve of taking a "test drive" on their sheets in-store. Or maybe you're talking about Wal-Mart?

I must say I found this topic fascinating. If you're ever in doubt, post it, b/c someone else is probably wondering.

I do think high quality sheets are worth it, but like others have said thread count isn't the only factor.

I have 1 set I really like that is I believe 600 tc Egyptian cotton. I'd just recommend making sure whatever you get is 100% (or close) cotton. I've had 1600 TC sateen or whatever, & those were garbage.

Quite the lame topic I know, but getting a new bed soon and wanted to know CFs opinion on high thread count sheets? Are they really worth the added price or is it a gimmick ? Anything else worth knowing about bedding ? THanks

ABC's 'The Lookout" show did a clip on this topic. See the link below. I highly recommend.

Yes, they are worth it. I usually get the highest thread count I can find. You get a low thread count sheet and they start to unravel and twist themselves into little knots as you move around in bed and before you know it; it's like sleeping on sand. And don't get fleece sheets unless it's winter time. High thread count for summer, fleece for winter.
