We used to say we don't have a life, we have kids. There was one night we had to be in Bondurant at 6 (freshman wrestling), Jefferson at 6.30 JV & V wrestling and Huxley at 6.45 (JV basketball). I took Jefferson, he did the other two.
Felt the same may times back in the day. My kids activities were confined the to DSM metro. Can't imagine spreading them across several different cities.
You comment got me thinking. Wife and I are just average people getting through life. What will be our legacy? There will be no buildings named after us, no inventions, no patents, no endowments. What is left will be our children. So, I guess, our children are our are lives. Hopefully we taught them the life skills to get through life. To me these are respect, kindness, consideration and a strong work ethic. I believe we have succeeded .To this day there is nothing, within my means, that I wouldn't do for them.
Apologies, I'm feeling a bit melancholy today.
