Have you tried MGD 64 or Bud Select 55?

I don't think you're correct on the diet soda.
Actually, this has been studied and is true. There was a brief segment on it in Psych 101. Someone correct me if I've got the details wrong but it goes something like this:

The sweetness in the diet soda tricks your body into thinking nutrients (sugar) are coming and it releases digestive enzymes into your bloodstream. When the enzymers aren't used they are converted to fat. For the same reason, diet soda actually has an appetizer effect and makes you hungrier than you really are.

That said, I only drink diet soda.

Be a man and drink real beer. You may be surprised to learn that Guiness Draught only has 126 calories.
You see, this kind of valuable information is why CF is the best message board in the universe. I will now try Guiness Draught.

plus, if you're drinking beer to get drunk, you're going to need to drink so much more of the super low cal beer to get drunk anyway that your caloric intake basically comes out a wash with if you'd just been drinking regular light beer in the first place.
Dude, I don't know where you got your information but it's the alcohol in beer that gets you drunk, not the calories.

wow, thank you so much for bringing that to my attention! if it weren't for you, I'd be lost!

alcohol content-

bud select 55: 2.4%
MGD 64: 2.8%

miller light: 4.2%
bud light: 4.2%
coors light: 4.2%

looks to me like there's a correlation between calories and alcohol content.

Alcohol is basically calories. A shot of vodka typically has the same amount of calories as regular light beer (women should take note of).

ultralight beers are basically regular beers with extra water added, that is why they have less calories and less taste. Great marketing sells light beers. It is like the ready to use antifreeze that costs $1 less than the stuff you have to mix 50/50 with water.

Drink real beer, eat better and workout a little more.

Wow...what has this come to? Sacrificing flavor/quality for calories? How about you drink a decent beer and go for a jog, xc ski, heck even just go for a wal around the block.

most light beers have somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-125 calories (Millerlight, bud light, coors light, etc.). however the difference in how much crappier tasting mgd 64/bud select 55 is than normal light beers is not worth the extra 50 or so calories IMO. plus, if you're drinking beer to get drunk, you're going to need to drink so much more of the super low cal beer to get drunk anyway that your caloric intake basically comes out a wash with if you'd just been drinking regular light beer in the first place.

that being said, if you're drinking beer just because you like beer and not to get drunk, then why in the hell are you drinking light beer to begin with?

if you want to drink on the low cal, start drinking wine or liquor. much easier to play the calorie game with these than it is beer. if your dead set on beer, cut out something else in your life (fast food, soda, etc.). drinking crappy beer on a regular basis is miserable, just ask any homeless man or hawkeye fan

Yeah, I think that sums it up! Have to drink a ton of those to get drunk so that will make up the calories, and if your drinking cause you like beer, you'd want to drink actual beer.

In my defense, you didn't mention alcohol content, only calories. You have now shown me that the alcohol content of low calorie beer is actually lower. Thank you.
