I mean this sincerely I’ve been with my wife for 25 years, since before my senior year of high school and I don’t want to even imagine dating. Seems insane now.
Everytime you take a ****… look at pictures of her. You will begin to associate the smell with thoughts of her and get over it quickly.

Yeah, it sucks. Embrace the suck, that's the quickest way to get over it. Admit that it sucks, stew in your misery for a few weeks. Get it out of your system, then hopefully move on.
Dating was exciting. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. But extremely exhausting. I don't miss it at all.
This conflicts with the common wisdom that everyone likes the smell of their own brand.

It sucks. You immediately think it’s something you did or something is wrong with you. Truth is you very likely dodged a bullet. If they ended it out of nowhere and didn’t have any sort of convos about concerns or anything leading to this they aren’t at an emotional or communication level to have things work with anyone.
It's pretty terrible and unfortunately time is the best healer.
Ideally they were honest with you so you at least know and can move on.
It's kind of a brutal way to look at it, but ff someone doesn't want to be with you, they shouldn't be and it's better for you in the long run. Things festering with no closure only make it worse.
The best thing I've seen for people to do is to stick with healthy things you like doing to stay busy and find focus.
Football season being here might be a good thing if you're a big football fan. There's something to look forward to every week for almost half a year and then it's basketball.

Happened to me. She ran off with my best friend... he got her prego, then dumped her immediately. Took me about 6 months to get over. Time heals. Your life will get better. You have my support.
I will be the first to admit that I don't really put myself out there however dating culture in 2024 sucks. It's pretty much all online dating now.
You also have 90% of women going after the 1% of the male population that the internet has told them are the only ones you can be with but that's a whole different discussion.
Feel for you, Drew. There isn't a better time if it's going to happen. Lots and lots of stuff to take your mind off it this time of year!
