Athletic article on the 20 hardest jobs in college football. Some are hard because of historical lack of success, facilities, recruiting, etc. Some are hard because of expectations.

THANK YOU MATT CAMPBELL!!! Not many could have put ISU in a position to be off this top 20 list.

To me it's Vanderbilt. Crazy high academic standards in the SEC with bad facilities that you can't expand because your campus is completely landlocked. I'd almost try to play like a service academy and hope being different got me a couple wins a year.

UMass and UConn should be FCS schools so it's hard to count them.

KU has to be the worst Power 5 job based on facilities. It has to be like pulling teeth to get people to go to Pullman, Washington too.
I've actually heard Pullman is really cool.

As for KU, they apparently do not want success in football. And like I said in another post, those top 10 to 20 jobs? Really not worth the headache anymore. UT, Tenn, Nebraska, Auburn, UM.

They had a 300$ million dollar plan put together to renovate Memorial Stadium. I assume the fiasco with the Big 12 killed that.

I feel like the few Vandy fans would embrace being an option school as well. But I guess the other side of the coin is that there’s no reason they shouldn’t be Stanford, but Stanford has a host of reasons why it can be more successful.

I'd like to extend a big thank you to JP, as well. Those facilities upgrades over the past 2 decades are just as important.

Agreed!

But a major reality check is coming for us if we remain in the Big 12 3.0/4.0... We won't sniff near the media revenue to keep these fantastic upgrades going. We've gotta get to the B1G or Pac to stay off this list.

Pullman is cool, but it's very remote. It's like 35,000 people, and the closest bigger city is 75 miles away. It's got to be difficult to convince recruits to come out there.

Sounds a lot like Morgantown, WV. I'm sure the Pacific time zone does them no favors as well
Morgantown is like an hour and 10 from Pittsburgh. There isn't a thing in Eastern Washington. Other than Spokane you are hours from civilization. Colder winters than the Western part of the state too.

I'm honestly not sure the PAC keeps us there either. The current PAC plus a few B12 teams will still be a good distance behind the B1G and SEC. Honestly for us the new B12 plus a few PAC defectors may be the better option.
