Going to Denver for 10 days

I would add Molly Brown House (Unsinkable Molly Brown from Titanic fame), there is a traveling exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, tour the Denver Mint, Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, and many other neat things to see.

For eats DDD has been there a number of times and found a few gems. For a great diner it is hard to beat Sam's No. 3. Someone mentioned beer so try Hops and Pie for craft beer and artisan pizza like bbq brisket pie. A combo good eats and sightseeing if you like book stores is one of the few remaining independent book stores, Tattered Cover and it has a great restaurant on the top floor.

Lots to see and do in Denver.

I think Poudre Canyon Road (Highway 14 northwest of Fort Collins) is a beautiful drive. I think there are multiple hiking trails just off of it.

http://traveltips.usatoday.com/hiking-poudre-canyon-colorado-106283.html

This. If you are in decent shape, hike the Grey Rock trail. about 3 hours one way and great view. Best hike short of a 14er . When done, continue up the road to this - http://www.themishawaka.com/ Food is average, decent beer selection, music can be great depending on when you go and you can sit along the river and watch rafter and kayakers go by.

When are you out? Best rafting is now through maybe mid-june if you want to do that.

If you are a beer fan, (who isn't?) Hit Oskar Blues (now have a place in Denver but if you want atmosphere head up the road 30 min to Lyons - kind of like The Bait Shop) and I would get to Left Hand in Longmont.

If you like music, check here for your dates - http://www.redrocksonline.com/ Absolute best music venue in the world.

Those three things - Poudre, Beer places, Red Rocks - are pretty much all I do every summer.

i saw another thread, but that seemed kid-centric and I didn’t want to hijack.

I’ve got a friend flying me out for 10 days in the end of May to dog watch for them. Sounds like it’s in the Littleton area, but I’ll be able to use their car, so travel shouldn’t be much of a problem. I’ve been to Denver a few times, but they’ve been work related so I didn’t have as much freedom to just go and do things. Looking for recommendations of things to do. Definitely interested in doing some hiking, so if anyone knows some good areas for that, that’s a plus.

You should take the dog and run the stairs at Red Rocks. You might meet some friends. Try not to be as creepy as usual.:) Let me know if you want to meet for a couple of beers.

I don’t know how to do this.

I’d probably be for some beers though.

It’s a bit of a drive, but we loved Mesa Verde National Park.

Rocky Moutain National Park is closer and has some spectacular hikes.

Air Force Academy is an interesting visit.

Plenty of fun stuff to do without leaving the Front Range, especially from Littleton.

Deer Creek Canyon Park is great for a hike/mtn bike adventure and probably less than 15 minutes away. Stay left and take the Plymouth Mountain Trail. Great views of the city from the peak.

If you want to wet a line head down to Deckers. Big Trout. Be sure to stop by Bud's Bar in Sedalia on your way back for a Cheeseburger and a beer.

If you want to get into the thin air, take the road trip to the summit of Mt. Evans. I do it annually. Great views but dress accordingly.

If cards/dice are your game, head to Blackhawk/Central City. Worth checking out even if you don't want to leave a donation. From there get on the Peak to Peak highway and road trip to Estes Park. Make a pit stop in Nederland.

Boulder is a bit over rated imo, but the Pear Street Mall certainly is not. If you want to people watch, this is your spot. Some interesting shops as well, but nothing you purchase will be cheap.

As others have mentioned, Red Rocks is a must. Take Uber or a cab if you are going to a show. Do the same if you plan to head downtown for a game or to party. Enjoy!

There are breweries everywhere. Two of note that are owned by Iowa State Alums are Living the Dream, and Dry Dock. Check them out.

Rocky Mountain National Park and Great Sand Dunes NP are day trips. The Air Force Academy is a great place to visit.

Ft. Collins is the birthplace of micro-breweries.

Boulder if you want to see how expensive a suburb can be
