We've got two up here. It's not pizza we get often but it's nice to walk in there and have a frozen one you can just yank out of their freezer and take home and cook yourself. Just as good and you don't have to wait forever.

Well I was gonna vote for Omaha, since OP called it a crap town he must think it needs some good new restaurants...but then I saw Dallas was an option. Dallas won't win but at least I didnt vote for Des Moines.

I've eaten at almost all Chicago's finest, Gino's, Uno, Due, Giordano's, but my family actually prefers Rosatti's, which we have in Ankeny. I was shocked how good it was. I voted to help you guys out, but I'm good with Rosatti's, F&Os and Wig and Pen.

I'll never understand the appeal of Chicago style.

Wouldn't this be equivalent to getting a sbarros?

Just got back from Chicago and the deep dish was amazing. I feel that sbarros is thick crust pizza whereas Chicago deep dish is actually pretty thin crust that is made into a well to fill with cheese, meat and sauce. Was awesome and the crust was actually pretty thin.

I was not comparing the style of pizza with sbarros. I was comparing the perception. Like if someone asked me to recommend a good pizza place in NY and I said sbarros it would clearly be a joke. I was thinking Giordanos would be a place that no one from chicago would actually reccommend. I could be way off on that, idk, like I said im not a fan of chicago pizza.

I highly doubt this is a voting competition and the winner gets a Giodanos. A voting competition that can easily be rigged is a terrible indicator for the potential success of a restaurant. Giodanos did their research and the 5 "finalists" are locations they have already identified that their restaurant would be successful. I bet this is a PR stunt and at the end of the "voting" they announce they are expanding to all five cities..which is awesome for Des Moines!

Daughter Alana took us to the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. on Clark Street last year. (It's immediately across the street from the scene of the St. Valentine's Day massacre.) They have what is called "Pizza Pot Pie", and it was absolutely fabulous. Looks like this:

Inside is sauce, onions and peppers, sausage, and whole mushrooms. Encased in a thick layer of mozzarella. My mouth is watering........

You are wrong. They don't have that many locations cause locals don't like it.

I'd take a Lou Malnati's or some local places any day, but I suppose it's better than nothing. When we lived back east for a while there was an Uno grill and bar close by and it even filled a void every now and then. I'd never go there living in Chicago.
