This is correct , I believe the term used now is committed instead of signing a NLI and is murky on whether that includes a verbal commitment or not since they aren't binding. The whole thing is a mess.

You weren’t wrong I’m sorry I called your post dumb. But in all seriousness the dad is going to have a hard time letting these kids make their own decisions. Bo going to Penn state or okie state and starting to blend in and just be another guy will be.. interesting.
Bill is getting it much worse right now than he should be. He’s a helicopter parent no doubt but Iowa dropped the ball here. Bassett family wasn’t asking for anything egregious.

Regardless, they think they know better than the coach. They received an answer they didn’t like, and instead of letting the coach do what they think is best, they jumped ship.

Bill wanted Iowa to pay for the flights to train which wasn’t going to clear compliance. It wasn’t tom telling them they couldn’t.
And I wanna also go on the record of saying it was stupid to use it as the reason when they are far from being the model program for following the rules
That’s just not true. I know someone in compliance at the P5 level and they said it would be a very easy workaround to get flights paid.
You think Oklahoma State compliance doesn’t care about the rules but Iowa’s does? Tom’s ego got in the way here is what I heard from someone I trust.
I won’t pretend to know what happened, and while Tom may be a psychopath, I can’t imagine he’d do something to turn talent like Bassett and Miller away out of pure ego. The Bassett’s can’t be completely “clean” in regard to this breakup.
Bo had a “look at me” parade on social media to pick the “perfect college for him”. He settles on the “perfect fit, his childhood dream”. He doesn’t make the u20 team, he stock is dropping a little. His high school buddy is in final X, possibly going to make the senior world team, guaranteed the u23 spot, making headlines and having a good time at okie state. PJ Duke makes all 3 world teams and has a great spring. Blaze makes the u20 team and beats Bo up a weight. All these high school kids are getting a lot of attention right now and daddy Bassett couldn’t take it and had a meltdown. The social media, the branding.. it’s all a plot and plan by the dad. People think Aj’s dad and Chittum’s dad are bad? Wait and see. It’s already unfolding, this was massive.
That could be true. I know his dad is overbearing and a helicopter dad. I’m just saying the compliance thing is 100% bogus so I’m not sure why Iowa is pushing that narrative.
I wonder how much the Miller recruitment played into it. Did he want the same deal as Bo & when Bo wanted flight money, Bob said no more??? I don’t know any details, but I think there is a lot more details to this breakup!!!
