The MMA news is reckless and Cormier was out of his lane saying anything at all.
Not out of his lane at all since they're close friends and DC is obviously talking with Amy. His statement that Ben is home in Wisconsin with family statement could've been better. He should've said Ben is back in Wisconsin near family in a local hospital

We disagree on this unless he had the ok from the family which he may have. If he was going to give an update for them he absolutely should have said he was still hospitalized. Started a lot of incorrect news being spread around .

He's good friends with Ben I highly doubt he would've said anything unless he was told he could. He definitely messed up his words and it caused lots of confusion

Mineo claiming us and Iowa are going to have ~$1mil available from the AD rev share going forward and that will be on the high end of wrestling programs. OU getting nothing and Ok State getting $250k.

I imagine for us it's easier to say, sure you get $1mil wrestling but you have to fully fundraise it yourselves because we're not going to be close to maxing out the $20mil as an AD anyways. I'd imagine the only slam dunk dollars in the rev share are for FB, MBB and WBB. Then olympic sports get a slice, in this case a big one for wrestling, if they can come up with the donors/cash for the AD to pay it out with.

I heard that Deloitte will have a major focus on wrestling along with football and MBB. Even if Dresser has to raise it, Jamie stepping up and giving us $1M of the pie is a game changer and will really set us up for the future. If schools get caught doing NIL deals outside of the process, the penalties will be steep

So does the wrestling team have to raise a million, but can't raise more money, or does the school give the different sports the money, but can raise more?

I’m wondering this too? When Mineo said Okie State only gets 250k, I couldn’t believe that’s all they get with all the transfers coming in. I know they can raise more money through paycom but does that money have to go through the Athletic Department first before it’s distributed?

The way I understand it. School is going to pay out $1mil to wrestling contingent upon wrestling raising that $1mil. Collective would largely being the ones doing the fundraising. If they raise more I’d assume that’ll just stay in the collective’s coffers for future years, facilitating “true” NIL outside of the school, CRTC, etc.

If wrestling doesn’t raise the $1mil, then it’s not as if the school is going to pay another sport more because it’s not truly coming from AD revenue. It’s being raised independently by the sport. The school isn’t positioned to pay $20mil in rev share right now out of existing revenue. I don’t know the amounts, but something well less than <$20mil in true rev share from the school all going to MBB, WBB and football. Fundraising the rest the same way We Will and C&G collective have been. Then paid out via the school as “rev share”

What about Penn State, because they're a power 5 school, and wrestling doesn't get any of the rev share can they still raise money or use nil money

I thought the AD was going to pay the full 20 mill because of the cash reserve funds they have for the next two years then who knows

Maybe. Could also be a nice bit of business by Dresser to get a bigger piece of the pie. We fundraise it if we get a bigger cut type of deal so the AD doesn’t have to pay it out of reserves?

The word is that Penn State will not have rev share for wrestling but is going to 20 scholarships instead. So I don’t think any of their guys will get direct pay from the school but they can theoretically have 20 guys on full rides now, whereas ISU isn’t increasing scholarships for anything, so we’ll still be at 9.9

Again there is NLWC and NIL deals outside of rev share as well and how that plays out is TBD for everyone.

Anything wrestling raises will be used for wrestling. Might not be through the Rev share

I think the relationship of the donor to the university makes a difference. All State insurance, Nike, etc can give any amount & not be scrutinized vs an Iowa State alum. Not sure about how Nike and Oregon works.
Also not sure how the Paycom guy & Ok State relationship & Rev Share works
