I know that kick-off times are now generally dictated by television opportunities and potential revenue from those opportunities, but...does anybody else miss the "old" standard 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon kick-off time?

oh yeah...I truly miss the 1 pm kick off times. nothing like getting up early on a Saturday morning and driving 45 minutes to Ames - tailgaiting - and getting to the stadium around 12.20 - 12.30 for kick off!

Id probably say my order of preference goes:

1. Saturday Night games (until it gets colder, mid-octoberish-november)
2. 2:30pm games (my #1 choice in those colder months, night game being #2 choice then)
3. 1pm games
4. Thursday night games
Big, big dropoff
5. 11am games

Gotta love watching the 11am games. Sleep in until 10:50, roll out of bed, grab a mountain dew, some cold pizza from the night before and not move from the couch until 10pm.

Agreed for those weekends we dont have a game. Tailgating for 11am games sucks though.

It was 1:30 in the 80s.

I prefer 11AM kicks to Night Games, almost always. Exception will be this year's Nebraska game. If that's an 11AM kick, I'll be unbelievably mad.

But 11 AM kicks are better, because you get to see all the games later that day. I'm a morning person anyways, so waking up at 4AM to get ready to tailgate is nothing for me. 2:30 kicks are awesome as well, but ideally 1:30 is the perfect slot, if you could have the game on TV.

I ******* hate having more than 1 or 2 night games a year. You don't really get to see any other football, and the whole day just gets so long.

I hate 11 am games, much rather have night games. Just bring the flat screen to the tailgate and watch the early games.

I agree, big time. Plenty of time for people to drive to the game and tailgate if they wish, and plenty of time after the game to socialize, too.
