This is not going to include everyone and a rough guess on weights and top contenders. Not sure who will use the free covid year, so class is left unchanged.
2022-23
125 - Kysen (so), Corey Cabanban (RJr), Knopick (Fr), Fousek (Fr)
133 - Ramazan (Rso), Noonon (So)
141 - Redding (So), Klepps ((RJr), Swiderski (Fr)
149 - Robinson (So), Johnson (Fr)
157 - Jason Kraisser (Jr), Monroe (So), Euton (Fr)
165 - Carr (RJr), Judge (RJr), Stotts (RJr), Schumacher (RJr), Schmitt (RSo)
174 -Devine (RJr), Broderson (RSo), Rojas (Fr)
184 - Coleman (RSr) - Heard he will take his covid year??, Fischer (So), Helgeson (Fr), Villesusa (Fr)
197 - Bastida (So),
285 - Schuyler (RSr) - Heard he might take his covid year??, Duggan (RJr), Schon (Fr), Greenlee (Fr)

A little thin at 184 and 197.
Naaktgeboren is a junior in high school and be at 184.
McCrae Hagerty is a junior and would be a nice fit at 197!!!

Is Cam Robinson doing open tourneys or is he hurt? I don’t remember seeing his name this year but maybe I missed it.

He has a couple losses to guys I’ve never heard of, not a good thing. He also lost to Paniro at Dak. What’s the news on Helgeson? Did someone say he’s injured and gray shirting? If so what’s the injury and anyone have an update? Excited to see him and Naak compete for 184.

Does Fousek plan on going 125? That would be great, but he's been wrestling at 138 this year. Maybe he's descending to 132 for postseason. I genuinely have no clue. EDIT: you said "rough guess". I'll quit hassling you Buf.

Hagarty would be a perfect fit, but I can't remember the last time we got a Waverly kid to ISU. Eric Thompson for a year? I think we had a good chance with Riggins and Block, didn't go our way. Hopefully this time is different. Heck of an athlete.

Coleman taking his extra year would be awesome. He's really putting everything together. He looks so tough right now. If he doesn't come back, it's probably Broderson or Devine bumping up to 184 next year.

I'd also be interested to see if Cam Robinson could ever make 157 work. I know he's tall and thin like Degen, but between him and Paniro Johnson, I think he'd make the most sense to bump up. Johnson looks like he might be maxed out already. Dude is jacked. If not, and if Carr does go up to 165, then 157 could be a struggle for us next year.

Cam struggles already with his strength at 149, it wouldn’t get any better going up. From the matches I’ve watched he just has to get stronger to compete as I think the talent and technique are there

Also really excited to see Fousek. Does he ever wrestle in big tournaments out of state? Don’t see his name thrown around much but he’s great.

I was going off the projected weight they use in the signing day article

Don't disagree with this at all, but maybe get him in the weight room and build about 8 lbs of muscle. He's young enough he could do it and as someone else said, it looks like we may need a 157 if DC moves up (like I expect he will)

With Bastida's success, I wonder if we can pull in a super stud 197 lb recruit.

If Yonger continues to tear it up in March, I think we'll be able to draw some nice attention. Especially since it's very likely Yonger decides to stick around and train for International competition.

I hope we can keep the long standing success at 197 going. Cyclones should be known for this weight by now ;)

Cael Sanderson - 2002 NCAA Champ 197
Jake Varner - 2009 and 2010 NCAA Champ 197
Kyven Gadson - 2015 NCAA Champ 197
Let's add Bastida to this list and keep it going. What high school kid wouldn't want to join that list? Since 2000 I believe PSU has 3 titles at 197 to ISU's 4. Phil Davis in 2008, Quentin Wright in 2013, Bo Nickal in 2019

Quite a while ago, but Al Nacin, Frank Santana, Ben Peterson and Mike Mann made for quite a string of 190+ greatness (too bad Mann couldn't beat Ed Banach in the NCAAs)

You had runner up finishes in 07 and 08 by Backes and Varner as well.

Can someone please get Yonger an NIL deal so I can get a shirt too?

Just curious what would be the expectation for the guys wrestling 141, 149 and 157 in this scenario be as far as nationals next year?

141 expectation would be top 20 type season with R12 potential, 149 I’d probably expect to be borderline top 20, but most likely a mid 20s guy where any win at nationals is a bonus. No clue on the 157

Redding and Robinson have very high ceilings. Just real young yet. Swiderski could be an animal too. 57 might become the new 65.
