Interesting new report from Clemson reporter on talks heating up that the Big 12 will add four teams soon, Florida State, Clemson, Maryland and Louisville. This is a scenario we have not heard before. Even some talk that Miami and Va Tech might take conference to 16. Interesting reading.

Actually this is something that has been rumored for a while. Check out the monster thread. Many posts containing these rumors.

I'd love to see Maryland for the purely selfish reason of being able to see Iowa State play in my (almost) backyard. If it weren't for that, I would be opposed for every single reason.

Because those are awesome schools. The big12 needs 16 for stability.

Everyone loves that thread.

No way does the Big 12 go to 14. Weird number for divisions and scheduling. Mizzou won't play Florida for something like 5-7 years. Big 12 doesn't want/need that. Need to poach to home run schools, FSU and Clemson, and then have ESPN force the ACC into a grant of rights to keep that conference alive and therefore have more broadcast material for really cheap.

And jumping to 16 from 10 could be a little disastrous.

While its interesting this is hardly anything new. FSU/Clemson has been talk for 2 months. Louisville forever. Maryland has been in and out for the Big 12 and Big 10 for awhile. Throw in GT as well. And VT and NCST for the SEC. That will sum up most bloggers out there for you and random internet insiders.
