I wish there was someplace like Fresh Choice (salads, soups, pasta) here, but better than Fresh Choice. I always remembered it being good when it first opened in Santa Rosa. When I've gone to once since, it's been underwhelming (and I haven't gone in several years). I'd be happy with a restaurant/salad bar that just left me whelmed. Jason's Deli in WDM is good, but too far to visit frequently. Back in the day, Bonanza here in Ames had a great one.

I swear, I'm not really a healthy eater, I just like a good salad bar with lots of toppings and side options!

I love Jason's Deli, and their awesome salad bar.

Culvers isn't that good TBH. Casey's pizza is probably the most overrated thing on the planet. It's average pizza and their breakfast pizza isn't anything special either

Casey's is typical convenience store pizza. If someone considers it totally awesome, consider how low the bar is set for convenience store pizza.

You are both wrong.

Back when I went to ISU, there was an awesome sub place on Chamberlain right behind what is now the Kum and Go on Welch. I believe it was either Davanni's or DaVinci's? I can't remember which?

Does anyone know if that was/is a chain? I absolutely LOVED their hot subs. I think I cried the day I found out they were no longer there. I would always stop by there anytime I was in Ames after I graduated to get a sub from there.

Also, is there anywhere that is comparable to their subs today?

Davanni's is a chain in the Twin Cities. Pretty sure they're just in the Twin Cities though.

Yeah, it was DiVinci's. It was a chain out of Omaha. Stupid that it closed. Good place.

Picking one is just cheating the others:
Sausage Deep Dish @ Lou Malnati's
Columbian Coffee @ Holiday Station Stores
Full Scattered, Smothered, Covered, Chunked, Peppered & Country @ Waffle House
Anything on Biscuits @ Bojangles
Chicken Fingers @ Zaxby's
Calabash Combo @ Fatz Cafe

Sonic's food isn't great, but is on par with most fast food places. Their all day breakfast, ice cream, and drink specials are pretty good. Just had a grape lemonade and it was delicious.
