Finding a Wii

What I don't understand is why Nintendo didn't ramp up a little for this Christmas season, the dumb*****. You would think they make the big money off the $50 games. If people can find the stupid Wii's a little easier they might be more willing to cut loose and buy a few more games.

Maybe I don't know what I am talking about or maybe I am just POed that we still haven't gotten the Wii we bought on ebay from some jerk that is only 25 miles away and never responded to my request to just come and pick it up BEFORE Christmas!

The Wii is the only system that actually makes money per console sold, and Nintendo has been having a hell of a time trying to keep up with the demand. Last July or August I think they upped their production to the 1.3 mil/month, and it's still hard to find any. I think I got lucky that I just drove to Target and found one this summer.

ebay. A guy at work wanted one and we watched half a dozen auctions close where the wii's sold with no markup. So the guy bought one.

Do you like it? What games do you have?

I love it. Probably my favorite tech toy. Games I have are metroid hunters, new super mario, mario kart, brain age. There are a bunch more I want as well. I like the playability between people who have them. My father in law, neices, and nephews all have them and we play mario kart against each other on holidays, its a blast.

The problem is, it costs a lot of money to ramp up production, and when you don't need it anymore, you don't get any of that investment back. So sure, Nintendo can spew out 3 million a month, but once they sell as many as they are going to sell at the end of the day, they are going to have 3 million a month in capacity and 50k per month in demand. There's a happy middle, and that's where Nintendo is currently at.
They think demand will be there long enough for them to fill it at 1.3 million a month, and don't think they will lose that many sales by not increasing supply.

I was shopping at the Best Buy in Sioux City today when they put some out. I watched them put about 5 out and they were all picked up within about 4 minutes. They put 4 more out and there were still 3 there when I left about 40 minutes later.

itrackr lied to me. I got a text message today at 8:25 that said Wallmart in Marshalltown had them in stock. Got there at 8:30 and they didn't have any. Went back several times during the day and they never got any. I finally asked someone and they said they never get them on the weekends. What's up with that?

I must be looking at a different ebay:skeptical:

We watched several end and the guy bought one. I just did a search now and watched the first one that came up finish. It was a Wii, extra controller, and 5 games (the 5 games are a little misleading) for $317; $10 shipping.

That just-in-time inventory system they have going doesn't seem to work much with the Wii I guess.

I've seen some for around $300 for just the base console (which includes the 5 games) plus $30 or more for shipping but I'm not seeing any with and extra controller and only $10 shipping. Not that it really matters.

Well, I found my DS at Target today, hooray. I only have Final Fantasy XII for now because Best Buy has horrible selection but that's where my gift cards were to. Maybe I'll stop at the one in DM tomorrow, I'd like to look for Zelda for sure, and maybe a good puzzle game.

I hear the new Zelda for the DS is super cool. Controls take some getting used to but they rate it high. Ill have to pick that up as well.

I went and bought Zelda tonight, the controls are different, but so easy to pick up. I've heard it's like 20 hours long so at the speed I play I should be good for awhile. I'd still like to get Super Mario and Puzzle Quest, but those'll have to wait.
