We had Fence Contractors of Iowa put up a privacy fence for us. Not only were they alot cheaper than the bigger companies (DMSF and American) but they could come in almost right away and worked very quickly.

Not a fan of the vinyl fence, which is what our place has. Sure, it looks pretty good, if you ignore the parts that have broken off. I had to replace one whole section of the fence after it was ripped off earlier this spring in some high winds. I really don't think they can stand up to much force from any object.

I installed my chain link myself Just needed a post driver and a puller(not sure if this is what it is actually called) to stretch out the fence. Then some pliers to secure it.

But with the black coated chain link there might be a different way to do it not to damage the finish.

That sounds all rich and stuff....I'm a bit of a cheap ***, but don't want to DIY it and then pay someone to fix it in a year or two...

They were competitively priced on vinyl fencing, but it is not cheap. Plus, you know what they say about vinyl: Once you go vinyl...

Do not go with Metro Fence, I think that was their name. They misread the easy to spot property line markers. They cut one corner about 3 ft short of the other side and thus the fence was obviously way off and they decided to put a post right where my wifes rhubarb plant was. Then when we called them back out, the almost non english speaking work force lied to their boss right in front of me and said some things that just werent possible.

Can someone give me a rough estimate of what they think it would cost for 250ft of 6' privacy fence installed? I don't have a clue if it's $1,000 or $6,000

I'm putting in 4 ft. cedar picket, roughly the same linear footage as your talking, and all my quotes came in around $3000.

Would you expect PVC material to be about the same price?

I see you live in Johnston. Maybe they'll cut us a 2/1 deal :)

If you're talking about vinyl--like the white vinyl....nope. Way more. Way. Over double, easy. You can just call most contractors and they can give you a ballpark price per linear foot for different materials. I ended up going with Allstar Fence and Deck. In then end they matched the price of a cheaper competitor, could come out a lot sooner to do it...and the guy was wearing an ISU shirt.
