NEED TO TAKE CHIZIK OFF CYCLONE WEBSITE

(didn't want to start a whole other thread)

Chizdick is still featured on the 'coaches' page on Cyclones.com.

JP needs to take a page outta every jilted girlfriend's notebook and pull him off the site....and burn all of the photos and mix tapes he made for the punk.

What I find ironic in this whole mess is there were several here that practically worshiped the ground Gene Chizik walked on and now those same people are basically throwing him under the bus. I'm not happy how he left either but not as painful to me as it might be to some of you that thought he was going to do big things here. Time heals wounds and I'm sure many will feel vindicated if he fails at Auburn on top of it.

Throwing him under a bus? Opinions change based on somebody's actions. Chiz is the one doing the throwing.

Saw one of Chizik's Applebee commericals today too, how long till those are pulled?

I was a big supporter of his and I haven't thrown him under the bus FWIW. He's gone. It's over. Time to find a coach who can produce.

There has been a share of criticism over pollards decisions/hirings, but right now, HE IS ALL WE HAVE.

i really feel for JP and am confident he will work dilligently in getting a great coach in here to repair this mess.

From my perspective, Iowa State's liabilities (smallest budget in the '12', lack of winning tradition) handcuff what it's possible for him to do when hiring.

Personally, I'm cutting JP slack -- big-time slack. Because the job he's got to do arguably is as difficult as it gets for a BCS school. JP's a first-time AD despite all his terrific experience in the field. He's got lots of important initiatives under way at ISU.

Gotta try. And try again. And keep on trying. Never giving up. And one day. . . .

True, maybe it's more like dating the hot popular girl at school then she dumps you to move on to the next flavor of the month? While you are with her she makes you feel like you are on top of the world and nothing can knock you down from there then after she dumps you, you realize you were still the same loser all along?

ok...so how do we get 33 on the search committee?? ...

First there's got to be a committee. Every coaching search Pollard has done so far has been with a committee consisting of himself.

I hope he has realized that his committee of one hasn't worked out too well, but I have my doubts.

Clearly you don't understand "throwing under the bus"

Let me provide some clarity for you Travman:
“To throw someone under the busâ€￾ is defined as meaning “to sacrifice; to treat as a scapegoat; to betray,â€￾ but I think the key to the phrase really lies in the element of utter betrayal, the sudden, brutal sacrifice of a stalwart and loyal teammate for a temporary and often minor advantage. There is no retirement dinner, no gold watch, for poor schmuck “thrown under the bus.â€￾ On the contrary, the scapegoat’s name is liable to disappear from the website overnight. Under the bus, to throw | The Word Detective

Yes Gene did throw us, the kids, and the folks that signed his check under the bus. This we can agree upon.

Just a hunch - I assume that Geoffrey has asked Pollard what he learned from the Chizik debacle, and what he will do differently this time. Or is that too much to assume from Geoffrey?

Except Chizik's tenure was like dating the hot chick who wouldn't put out.

That is hillarious.

How did it not work out? He hired one of the hottest coaching prospects in the country. One so hot, indeed, that after back to back bad seasons, got one of the better jobs in college football.

What did you expect a committee to do? "Well, we think Chizik is probably too good for ISU, so we better not go after him!"

Pollard ran one of the most impressive coaching searches in recent memory last time.

It just so happens the guy was a bust.

Just like recruiting, you don't turn away 5 star guys who are the envy of everyone else because you think they are too good for your program.

Got back from the lopsided womens BB game victory and talked with a couple of friends and fellow donors at the game. One indicated that Chizik had never gone to a DM Cyclone football luncheon in DM this year.. Refused to go to DM. Was very surprised to hear.

Another friend said players he knew said Chizik was an ******** with the players. not a players coach at all.

I will take that with a grain of salt. Lots of football coaches are a-holes.

The thing about a players coach is that eventually the players walk all over you. I think this happened with Mac as his players stopped responding.

I think he's an a-hole for what he did to the players just now, but what players say about the coach while he's still there I don't really take for word.

I think that young men need some discipline and a stern father-figure, but perhaps that's just me. On the flip side, the coach still needs to care about the players. He just needs to show them tough love...

There are tons of players coaches who don't have players walking all over them and underperforming. Just one that comes to mind is Pete Carroll.
