In (belated) honor of Veteran's Day!

I'm sure I'm not the only one. Let's hear 'em.

I like:
The Dirty Dozen
The Guns of Navarone
Patton
Kelly's Heroes

...to name a few. As for new war movies, I like
Saving Private Ryan (of course)
Band of Brothers series was really good

Also, Full Metal Jacket is one of my favorite movies of all time - a bit different format than others listed above though.

Not sure what everyone's definition of "old" is, but Apocalypse Now is hands-down my favorite.

Kelly's Heroes gets more respect now than it did when it came out. And that is a good thing.

One that I like that is often overlooked is "Big Red One."

I saw a killer version of "All Quiet on the Western Front" some years ago, I don't think it was ever released on tape or DVD. It was in color.

Not exactly a war movie but takes place during WWII. The Great Escape-I'm pretty sure I have a man crush on Steve McQueen.

Lawrence of Arabia... it can be sappy but you wont believe what one man can do. He was voted one of the top 100 Brits of the last 1000 years.

Although not technically a movie, Band of Brothers is amazing in just about every way. I could watch that over and over again. But I do love me some Patton as well.

A lot of great movies have been named already. I would add The Wings of Eagles to the old movies list. As for newer movies, I like We Were Soldiers. I'm not sure if this would technically be classified as a war movie, but Taking Chance is special.
