Sounds like patient was conscious and okay, but I just don't understand how this happens:

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/st...tudent-falls-three-stories-survives/81912268/

An injured but conscious female student was on the ground outside. She had somehow fallen through her screened window from her lofted bed while she was sleeping, Florer said. The bed was apparently placed right in front of the window.

It appears it was an accident, Florer said, and no alcohol or drugs were involved.
"She was sleeping and must have rolled out. But we can't confirm anything until we talk to her again," Florer said.

How do you get through that window while sleeping? (Google Maps - streetview)

Needless to say, hope she heals well...and everyone - evaluate your bed before you go to sleep tonight!

That seems difficult to do, but I guess I've never seen a lofted bed at Freddy.

Lived there for 3 years and never even remotely would have ever come close to a situation for that to happen....

I suppose I can see it happening. Lofted bed above the window, fall off bed, hit desk/dresser/something in front of the window, forces your fall back to the outside towards window and through the screen you go.

Looks like a total freak accident, and I feel bad for the girl. Wow that would suck.

Only have a rack for one side as the wall holds the other. I'm confused as to how she would have managed to squeeze between the wall and bed, beyond the glass, and out of the screen..

My guess is she fell away from the bed/wall/window and landed on another structure which threw her back to the window and through the screen.

Crazy to think of the odds of everything happen perfectly for that to happen. The racks aren't tall by any means but, still, I don't recall knowing anyone who ever fell off. You'd have to be quite the heavy sleeper.

"Fell out the window while sleeping", more like while really drunk. Who knows though. Hopefully she's fine!

Edit: I guess it says in the article that there was no drugs or alcohol. If so thats incredible.

Kid lived on third floor there for two years, thankful he wasn't able to pull that move. I worry a lot but never even thought about that one.

My first thought was " 'sleeping', ok. " Figured we had an ISU episode of "sex sent me to the ER" coming.
