One or two of these years, Big 12 fans will just say, No.

I am close to it. I always have a year-long subscription to cyclonestv.com. I feel the revenue goes to the universtity, even though I don't watch it all that often. It is convenient when I do.

Well, I/we can listen to John and Eric on the radio, watch the games a couple of days later. That's what I might do. Fruck espn.

I happen to like a lot of shows on HBO...so the new Big 12 TNT content on HBO/Max is basically free to me and given how well TNT does with the NBA it'll be a big quality upgrade from almost any broadcast we've had too. TNT's commercials for Big 12 during NBA playoffs have prominently featured ISU fb/bb.

But $30 a month for just ESPN on top of other streaming and maybe also a subscription to Fox sports...that sucks.

I don't like much on Peakcock so if I was a Big Ten fan that's basically just an extra service where I'd want HBO anyway. Prime is perhaps the best situated because there are all sorts of reasons to have a Prime subscription and the TV might just be a bonus, in some ways Prime is more like network tv of the new age, people just have it.

What is going to be really interesting with these is how they impact packaged services like Hulu and YouTube TV that already have some ESPN and Fox components.

Hulu is easier to picture due to the tie with Disney and ESPN, but for others, will those channels be pulled or just ESPN and ESPN2 included? Of course rates won't go down regardless.

I've firmly believed since the first days of streaming that in the end it wouldn't look too much different from cable or satellite from a monthly cost perspective, and if anything, eventually more expensive. Which completely sucks because there still is no great integrated way to view content without switching between apps or whatnot.

I don’t think Disney will be able to pull ESPN services from cable. They’ll get hit with an antitrust suit by operating both the content and distribution services. It’s the same thing that they were sued about with the last package proposal. So if they try to pull that from a streaming service it’ll go to the courts and they’ll likely have to split up their content and distribution divisions.

We hardly ever watch free tv anymore. We're spoiled. We currently have, Prime, Netflix, and YouTube. I just cancelled Hulu, and Peacock for now. We got Peacock for the Olympics, kept it a while longer. We of course, get Hulu when the FB and BB seasons are on.

Like I said, if Hulu or ESPN whatever, gets too expensive to watch the Cyclones live, I may just go CyclonesTV.com, and call it good. They can only suck on us for more money, so long.

I'm willing to pay a small premium for YTTV instead of buying several separate services. The ability to flip between games is worth something. And the 4 way split screen is also great. No way to pull that off if half the games going are in an ESPN app while the other half are on Fox.
Agree. If they screw around too much with us, they might regret it. We, or any fan, can only take so much.

I’ve gotten to the point that I’ll pay the extra to avoid the commercials. I can’t stand commercials anymore. Even on sporting events I’m flipping channels.

It's really hard to avoid commercials, even on pay TV. Hulu and Peacock are the worst, iirc. They force you to watch, mute, do something else, for their 2+ minutes of commercials. Very irritating.

LOL the lengths some people will go through to save $10 is pretty hilarious.

I don't think they want to pull their content from streaming. This new package is broadening their target audience.

My understanding was that ESPN was always a major expense for cable companies/streamers compared to every other channel. I heard close to $10/month with the next most expensive being around $2/month.

I'm opposite of everyone else. I'd love to see YTTV give us the option to drop ESPN from their channels and charge me $10/less per month.

UFCs deal with ESPN is up.

This makes me think an agreement will be announced shortly.
I didn't realize this. If PPVs were included in this package, that would be massive. PPV purchases are wayyyyyyy down and most people just head to crackstreams to watch. If I can watch the PPV events on the same app that I can watch any/all other sports, I may consider dropping YTTV.

What's funny is we're moving away from the centralization of media and moving more toward individualized choices. Now, I just wish there were an app or I wish I knew a way to just watch what I want to watch without having to open a new app each time.

Really sucks that the NBA is leaving TNT.

Using an Apple TV box over a Roku has helped some. It’ll allow for multiple apps to be open so you don’t have to relaunch them every time you want to flip.

Everybody wanted a la carte for years, now it's basically happened and the reality is hitting hard...

I'm actually surprised that the new ESPN service is only $30 (for now). I expected it to the be in the $40-45 range.

There are a lot of straws on the camel right now more of this kind of crap will be the last one. Like baseball with Marqui or whatever they call it.

ill just stick with my YTTV and get 90+ channels and (if need be) purchase a sub to ESPN/Fox on an as-needed basis.

Once Fox comes into the fold next season for basketball, I'm hoping we get less ESPN+ games and a few more Fox/FS1. Although, they can/will stash games on their streaming service, too.

I can get (mostly) everything I want with YTTV.

I don't know why I thought it would be a list of channels you picked from for x amount per channel per month. Not all this contractual bundles of nonsense-

I bet it hits the sweet spot of not losing too much money, but cheep enough that people will jump for it
