Does this remind anyone of our situation with Eustachy? Have a coach take you to the proverbial "next level" and then you have to fire him. That bites!!

Oliver Hardy gets fired, and nobody wants the job. Lol
No, Harbaugh wont leave Stanford for Kansas, that's like Pete Carroll leaving USC for Pacific. I'm sure whoever they get for coach, should guarantee us at least 3 straight wins.

KU just went back about 10yrs with this move. They will be on the bottom of the North for awhile now.

People said the same thing about ISU when McCarney was fired.

Three years later and we're on the verge of going to a bowl game on par with the prime of the McCarney era. I wouldn't be so quick to write KU off. I think they'll struggle next year but beyond that I have no idea.

nolin cromwell will be a good candidate for the kansas job-offensive coordinator for texas a and m.outstandanding proballer at the los angeles rams-was an outstanding qb at kansas as an undergrad.

we should hire mangino as our recruiting coordinator-that dude can recruit.i would put into his contract that he has to complete a stomach operation so that it would slow down his consumption
of crispy cremes and we might be able to get him into wayne bolt shape. the guy knows how to recruit and if we could slim him down,we could make him as a back up offensive coordinator in the case someone steals herman from us..what the hell would
mangino look like if he lost 300 lbs-a bunch of wrinkles??????

we should hire mangino as our recruiting coordinator

And then every recruiter that followed ISU would show the recruit those pictures of the seared hands and ask, "Do you really want to play where the guy responsible for this works?"

where does mangino go from here? I can all but guarantee he ends up as an assistant at a top tier program somewhere. I think he would be a good get, foul mouth and all!! I mean just loo where he took Kansas. sure would be nice to make a BCS bowl and gain national relevence... :skeptical:

Keep in mind: they were already losing Reesing, Meier, and Sharp to graduation, and possiblt Briscoe to the NFL. They were going to step back anyway. Imagine McCarney being fired, and losing Meyer & Blythe. It would have hurt a LOT more.

I'd actually liken it more to Wayne Morgan's firing...

A 6-6 record with a signature win being by 2 points in an 8 turnover game is not on par with the prime of the McCarney era. The prime of the McCarney era included a 9 win season, four 7 win seasons, wins over ranked opponents, and many weeks where ISU was ranked in the top 25. We had a good season in 2009 relative to expectations, but it is no where near the prime of the McCarney era.

Kansas was probably going to take a big step back anyway, but this has to hurt and they could really loose some recruits. Reesing alone would have given ISU another couple wins this year, maybe even 3. I will not miss him or Meier the most of any players leaving the big 12.

I think he's saying the bowl game is on par with the best of the DMac era. Dmac's best bowl was the Insight. We're on the verge of going there this year.

I'm sure he realizes this. Montyburns cant stand the thought that something in the JP era might match up to what came before.

Maybe the Manhattan pizza joints will have to give out coupons to sell pizzas now that the staff is history. The KU extra heavy duty Coachline Tour Bus can also be canceled.
