Driving early afternoon Tuesday and staying at the Intercontinental. Hopefully traffic isnt too bad so we can watch the whole Orange Bowl.

I went to college in Chicago and used to go early to Bulls games ($3 half-price standing room only tickets during Jordan's rookie year at the end of the season when they would play Cleveland). I would take the Madison Ave. bus, get off a few blocks from the old Chicago Stadium and get the best BBQ in the world. Think about streets filled with places like Battles in Ames.

One trick to beat traffic is to take Ogden Avenue (runs diagonally) from the north.

I think we need to worry about beating Houston first!

Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn on East Grand, prepaid for around $100 including taxes.

Driving, leaving early morning, starting drinking early afternoon, and taking cab to the United Center.

Should be fun!

This. Houston is no push over. They have some big bodies and some good shooters.

The team is looking at Houston first, no doubt about it. Since us fans are not players, I think its OK to look forward to the trip that many fans will be taking to Chicago.

I'll be at both the Houston and Duke game. Both should be very fun to watch as we will finally get to play two fast-paced teams (unlike boring uni/northwestern offenses). Looking at Houston's season this far, they look good but not that good (losses to nevada, san diego, miss st, louisiana tech and texas-san ant). This game could be a good judgement game for when we play oklahoma (houston beat them by 7).

I was feeling okay about this game until last night when I flipped to the Duke/Penn game and noticed that Duke had put 58 on the board at the half. We need to have the game of our lives to stay with them and give us a chance to win.

Penn has also yet to win a game this year..they aren't good this year.

Wow, you got a great deal on that hotel.

I might suggest if you end up not wanting to cab it, you're right on the red line. Go down one stop to State/Lake and then go outside to the loop platform and take the Green line to Harlem. Get off at Ashland-Lake and you're almost right at the United Center. It's like 3 stops after State/Lake and it's gonna only cost you like $2.25.

I guess it depends on how many people you're going to share a cab with though. If you show you're drunk too to a cab driver and they feel you're from out of town/don't know chicago well...be prepared to maybe pay a few more $$$. Not like in NYC where a cab company or two have GPS monitors in the back seats to see if you're getting taken for a ride.

Now that football season is officially over, time to shift full attention to basketball season. Duke game less than a week away and getting very excited to be in Chicago for a few days.

Any idea who will be calling the game for ESPN? You would think Vitale has to be doing color for this as we are playing Duke.

Since it's a neutral site game, I don't know whether ESPN would use one of their ACC or Big 12 broadcasting teams.

According to Wikipedia, the Wednesday night ACC team is Mike Patrick and **** Vitale, with Jay Bilas or Len Elmore sometimes in place of Vitale.

Wednesday night Big 12 games are usually Ron Franklin and Fran Fraschilla or Hubert Davis.

You can't get to a TV that has cable or satellite? It's on ESPN2. Otherwise, it's on ESPN360.com.
