Why not use Appbrain to keep track of all your apps?

I do, but it doesn't get me everything restored easily. I could toss my iPhone in the garbage right now, buy a new one on the way home, plug it into my laptop for a few mins and I'm done. It's like nothing happened.

You should be able to restore paid apps through the market. But, yeah, non-paid is a pain. I like to try out new ROMs but I do it less than I would like because of that fact. I don't know why they can't keep all your apps linked in the market for restoring.

Most companies making Android apps have been making iPhone apps for a while so yeah they're probably more polished. That will change as Android continues to sell more phones and those companies invest more in Android and the Android platform continues to improve.

Even with paid apps you usually have to restore settings/data. I've noticed some of them have added backup to their own app menu. But yeah I agree a year or two from now I expect all this to be worked out and Android will be equal or better than iPhone.

Just got a Droid 2 a few weeks ago and I have no idea how I ever managed to live without it.

Great article comparing Android vs iPhone, some solid points on both sides of the argument. Make sure to read all 4 pages...
Head to Head: iPhone vs. Android - PCWorld

For the record, I've had the Droid Incredible since the day it came out and it is a great phone, other than the battery issues. I use custom Launchers because of the speed increase, although it sucks I have to give up my Sense widgets.

There are so many 'features' I could simply never give up for the current version of iPhone/iOS. You are simply giving up way too much in functionality for what you get in style/looks/intuitiveness.

I really, really like iPhones, especially the hardware, the beauty and capacitive precision of the screen, and way multimedia is setup. But I'm baffled how apple can't come up with a better notification system, widgets, better search, and the ability to customize more. The notification system and the desktop screens/launcher are reasons alone why I just could not make the switch to iPhone as it stands now.

I work at Verizon and there are 4 droid phones right now that are better than the iphone. and 4 more coming out in the next couple months. If you want to know some of the reasons I would be happy to explain.

Would love some insight. I am up for renewal on the 5th. Debating between the iPhone and the Droid Incredible. How do those compare?

What is coming out in the near future? Hubby has a Droid X and loves it but I need something smaller.

Also, what is the latest on Verizon keeping the unlimited data plan for the iPhone?

Count me as one who has had trouble with Samsung phones in the past. I really want to consider the Fascinate but I'm hesitant. Can you set my mind at ease?

I have the Samsung Mesmerize (US Cellular term for the Fascinate) and other that the battery life, the hardware/software is great. The GPS is awesome (drove around Minneapolis with no problems) There are plenty of apps to pick from in the market, I realize that Apple is Apple and people might say they their apps work "better," but I've used both devices and don't see what they see. Google is much more advanced than Apple and will only get more advanced in the future.

As far as memory is concerned, the Samsung Fascinate incorporates a 2GB NAND Flash internal memory as well as a microSDHC memory slot with support for up to 32GB cards. A 16GB microSD card will be included in the sales package, delivering approximately 18GB storage out-of-box.

The Samsung Fascinate has a virtual QWERTY keyboard featuring Swype technology for faster text input. This makes for one-handed texting very nice!

The AMOLED screen will provide a number of advantages, including a brighter screen, less sunlight reflection, and reduced power consumption, compared to the iPhone.

Android OS is far superior to the iPhone. Think future!

here's an old chart that puts the features on a chart. the features are pretty comparable hardware-wise. the big difference is price. you'll be able to get an incredible for a lot cheaper right now (going for .01 on amazon)

I believe they'll have that available, for $30/month.

There has to be something just as good or better than the Incredible but with better battery life by now. Isn't there?

For those that have iTunes, the iSyncr app lets you put that music on your android phone. Worked pretty well as I recall.

Sounds like Tom got a bad DROID X. I've never had a core app crash on my Incredible and very few third party apps.

None of the above.

And what do you mean by "Droid" -- an Android based phone or one of Verizon's Droid branded phones? Either way, there would be some I'd own over the iPhone and others I wouldn't.

They all have horrible battery life.

I have an Incredible and love it, but I wouldn't buy one today. You'll have it for 2 years and it will be seriously outdated by the end of that time.

I for one do not like the trend towards the larger phone footprint (Droid X, Fascinate, EVO etc.), and prefer the "smaller" phones like the iPhone and Incredible....but obviously that's just a personal preference thing.

I'll agree with others and say that the biggest plus for the iPhone is still the apps. Android has many of the same ones, but they're just not quite there yet in terms of quality or quantity. The biggest gap between Android and iPhone apps can be found in the games.....iPhone wins this category hands down. If you don't play games on your phone (at least nothing beyond solitaire), then obviously this doesn't mean anything. As was said, this gap is continually closing, and may be gone within a year or 2 or 3, but for now it is still there.

As for me, I'm sticking with the Incredible for now. I may make the switch for an iPhone 5 when I see the specs, but for now I'm good. I certainly wouldn't buy an iPhone 4 with the 5 likely coming out in just a few short months.....

I'm one of the Verizon customers who will be eligible to pre-order an iPhone on February 3rd. My main motivation for wanting an iPhone is because I really liked my iPod but have been without one for about a year now. Also I love using iTunes and want to continue using it to manage my music library.

That said, the iTunes issue is relatively easily overcome with a minor work-around (you can copy and past directly from iTunes onto an SD card) and, all other things being equal, WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

iPhone or Droid?

I'm totally confused and change my mind about 12 times per day.

If music is important, get an iphone. Otherwise the droid is a much much better phone. I have an X and love it.

I would tend to agree, but if youre comparing iphone4 and incredible, youd have to say the same about both. Both are last year's technology. Anyways, what phones arent seriously outdated after 2 years these days...

I would also add, what technology isn't obsolete after you buy it?

This type of poll is pretty much worthless. It should be titled "What smartphone do you have". How many people will admit they made the wrong choice?

I can't honestly say that my Droid X is better/worse than an Iphone. When I look at co-workers Iphones there are things about it that I like and things that I don't like. In general I'm usually anti-apple but I'll buy their products if I thnk they are better (not just eye candy). I've had a ton of Ipod's in the past.
