They have been scheduling double duals since the beginning of time!

i have seen the host school wrestle the first and third dual, but mainly to have the home crowd around longer. Sell more Clone Cones that way too.

They had a good 30-45 minutes between matches. How intense do you think practice is. Wrestlers should be the most conditioned athletes on campus. They are badasses. Don't feel sorry for them.

You are exactly right. Had we wrestled the first and third dual, than I would have had no concern. You are also right about conditioning, but if you were there, you know that story!!

I'm interested to hear how a whopping two matches in the same day this time of year is somehow debilitating. You do realize entering open tournaments where you guys may wrestle 5 plus matches in the same day is common this time of year...don't you?

Finally coming clean.

We have another double dual on Friday (against Midland and West Virginia). I am hoping to see a much more lively set of second matches this time around.

Speaking of which, when I saw the schedule at first I was thinking Midlands tourney was going to be in Ames:twitcy:

Ah shucks, just fell off the turnip truck and realized that is news to me. So very, very sorry:( 'cept entering a t'ment is different than scheduling back to back matches. You do realize that, don't you? BTW, love good discussion, but hate sarcasm.

I honestly didn't think you realized it because your comment is so odd. Two matches wrestled an hour or more apart is not very taxing and no more difficult than wrestling 5+ times in a tournament. Heck, it is less taxing than practice for these wrestlers.

Remember, these guys grow up wrestling in tournaments where they may wrestle 5-7 times in a day and double that over a two day span.

I think the bigger issue is not conditioning, but getting down to weight for the 1st time and 2nd - some wrestling in Hilton and with the Cyclone singlet on for the 1st time.

That's my hope - combined with the fact that I'm sure we trained through last Friday. Nobody took lung time outs, they were out of energy, not breath. If we see it again on Friday then I'll officially be worried about conditioning.
