CW has said several times that he thought if it was going to happen, it'd probably be done by now. I think he also said it's a hunch or educated speculation. Since he's obviously closer to the situation than I am, I trust that — or it make sense, at least.

Even if he (and fans) are making a knowledgeable assessment, your question is still valid —*does a delayed timeframe automatically indicate "disinterest"?
