Monte's line in 3 games last week:

14.7 pts (54.3% FG), 10.0 a, 3.0 r, 2.0 s, 0.3 b, 2.0 to. Average 10 assists in three games? That's pretty unreal.

Or does Gathers' 31 & 21 line against NW State (Cue Iowa NCAA highlights) win him the award? Any chance they share?

I didn't see every other game so I don't know if there is another player who is a no brainer for this award.

Somehow, Morris is still underrated by the national college basketball media. He is as good of a PG we will ever see at ISU, including that other #11.

Just looked up Felix's week. He had 25pts and the game-winner vs. UNC, but his other game he scored 3pts in a blowout win....

Would have been pretty awesome to have McKay and Morris be co-POW. Stat-wise that makes more sense to me, but I'm guessing the fact they are both on the same team might have made that a tough sell.

I love a Big 12 team handing Roy and the UNC team another loss, however I really think that game should have ended with Paige shooting 2 for the win. Lammert absolutely trucked him coming in for the rebound. I don't care when in the game it is, that is a foul that should be called.

As I said, I'm not upset about it though.

Monte is without a doubt the perfect point guard for this team, and if he's not the best PG in college basketball, he has to be 1B or 1C. He absolutely deserves more recognition than he's gotten. But McKay deserved to be recognized since he has been a BEAST this week. Like someone said, #firstworldproblems.

I feel like it was a bit of a flop as well as all three coming together at the same time. I don't want that called especially at the end like that. Obviously something happened but I don't think you can really pinpoint it.

I could agree with a little bit of all three coming together, but I don't see how that could be in any way a flop - he didn't have time to launch himself like that. If it is a foul, call the foul. If it isn't a foul it shouldn't be called earlier in the game either. I don't like the common refrain of "let the players decide the game". When the refs swallow their whistles at the end of games they are still deciding the game by not calling what should be called. Or conversely players are still deciding the game by choosing to foul at the end of games and getting whistled for it.

Again, I am not upset by the outcome.

I'm with you. If something is a foul at the ten minute mark of a half, it should still be a foul in the final minute.

I agree with you for the most part. I said flop about the extent. He was definitely pushed over.

I totally agree about the if it is a foul early it is a foul at the end. My point was I wouldn't be mad about that getting called at another point, but there is no way you can call an iffy thing like that at the end.

Monte is having a great season but with the rule changes, so are many PG's. It's one thing I've noticed when browsing stats, it seems assists have gone through the roof. A/TO numbers have been skewed quite a bit early so it will be interesting to see how well those numbers stay as the season enters conference play. I believe Monte has the unique combination of high assists and excellent A/TO which other PG's don't have at this point.

Monte' remains the only player in the league with more than 1 career 10 assist game. He has 7 early in his junior season.

He just averaged that 10 assists per game in 3 games this week. Nobody touching that.
