Yes, Iowa State has a very good veterinary school. ISU is one of only 28 veterinary schools in the U.S., and it is the second oldest veterinary program in the country after only Cornell. Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine was the first public veterinary school in the U.S. It is also important to remember that it is a relatively small profession when compared with other medical fields.

I have attached a link to ISU CVM's Gentle Doctor Magizine which will explain how the ISU CVM ranks financially with similar institutions, the contract ISU has with Nebraska, and the current expansion of the CVM's Large Animal Teaching Hospital (as well as a little on the renovations to take place in the future to the CVM's Small Animal Teaching Hospital). Our current Dean, Dr. John U. Thomson was challenged by ISU President Geoffroy to increase the rank of the veterinary school back into the top five in the country. He is working hard with the rest of the administration to attain that goal, and I believe ISU will meet that goal under his leadership with proper financial backing. Also, the ISU CVM has regained its full accreditation.
