I'm thinking about switching from Mediacom to DirecTV. I want the Xtra package that is listed at 35 bucks a month for the first 12 months. My question is how much would it cost in the second year, and how much extra would I have to pay to have it on 4 TV's? Ball park numbers would be great.

I guarantee that those rates will double after the trial period ends, and your contract length will at least a year or so longer than the amount of time the cheap rate is good for. All the satellite/cable companies are damn crooks.

Not sure what we started at but we have 4 tvs and all come with a DVR genie.

I think we are on our 2nd year and we pay around 80 bucks a month

I'm paying 90 for Mediacom without any HD channels besides CBS ABC and NBC... like 45 channels as well.

I pay $60 a month for Choice Extra on 3 TV's all with the genies. I am still in the first year rate, not sure what it will jump to, but Ill call and threaten to cancel to show them I mean business.

I would guess a breakdown is $35 for TV, one free Genie, then $10 for each genie, and 5 for taxes, so you are probably looking around 70-75.

I looked the other day, and I selected 3rd level package. It was $33.50/mo for first 12 mos. The price for 3 boxes with DVR was $34.50/mo. I am in the process of switching to digital antenna, with Netflix, Hulu, and Sling TV. Will use someone with Dish's information to watch FSN on my computer.

Yea, we are just going Netflix and Antennae through the summer. I'll look into doing Sling when basketball season gets closer. I'm not even worried about ISU football because I'm usually either at the game, or we have something going on those weekends anyway.

I'd call them and ask for their retention department. Explain you are overpaying and want a new deal. They'll work with you. Just to put in perspective, I'm paying $109 per month with taxes and fees for cable with 1 box (all channels in HD), 15 MB/second internet, and phone service through Mediacom. It's only good for 1 year but I am not under contract. After a year I plan to negotiate a new (and hopefully similar) rate and threaten to switch to Directv if I don't like their offers.

I mainly just want the ESPN's in HD and the golf channel. Right now I don't even have ESPNu.

I just quit and was paying $110 / month for the second lowest tier. They charge over $35 / month for the genie and $6 for each other receiver. Of course it may be even more for the wireless ones.

They quickly offered $60-65 / month plus movie channels for prob three months. So you know where their costs are if you want to negotiate with them.

You're getting screwed. I have mediacom and pay $110/month for 15 mbps internet and HD tv, and that includes all the ESPN channels along with CBS sports network. The thing I've found with mediacom is it just depends who you talk to on the phone. If you get the right person, you can get a decent deal

Too ******* much for 20 channels that show the same syndicated and another 20 that show the same show over and over. I was so much happier with the product I as getting 15 years ago, when we had less channels, but they all didn't show the same thing. Except for the few channels everyone wants to watch the rest are just crap, but they get you because to get the channels you want you have to get all the junk ones.

Sorry end of rant.
