Des Moines Area - Places to take dog swimming?

I'm looking for a place to take my dog swimming, somewhere off the beaten path (not grays lake). Anyone have any good experiences/ideas?

I see a lot of people letting their dogs swim at Racoon River park beach. Added bonus there's a dog park too.

If you're in for a short road trip, Hickory Grove up towards Colo is good for that.

Badger Creek, south of Booneville. Plenty of space to play fetch w/ the pooch, let them swim, run around, eat dead fish on the shore, and poop in the parking lot.
