Yeah, those two will rotate the entire game and each guy might play about the same number of snaps IMO.

Things that surprised me a bit....

*Ramos as backup Center and not listed at Tackle at all.
*I thought Blake Peterson might show up in two deep at DE?
*Thought Malik Verdon would be in the two deep.
*Thought Grant Treiber would be in two deep.
The Ramos thing shouldn't surprise, we need a center next year and apparently the staff thinks hes the man.

True freshmen on either OL/DL are typically pretty rare. I think he'll be a stud but I wouldn't worry at all about him not being there. I would've been pretty surprised to see him tbh
Similar thoughts about Carston Marshall? Another guy I heard good things about.

So they list 2 DEs, a NG and a DT, when we typically line up in a 3 man front. Those 4 spots make sense on the occasion we show a 4 man front, so who has some insight on how we’ll use the guys listed at DT? I guess I could see Enyi playing DE along side Lee or Singleton if we’re more concerned about stopping the run in our 3 man front. So many possibilities.

Our Dline personnel is so much bigger, better and deeper than it was in the 80s and 90s that it defies belief. Honestly, throughout most of my 35 years of Cyclone football fandom I never thought we could recruit guys like that.
I really would like to see us line up in a 4-3 just enough to require other teams to prepare for it. Seems like we have the personnel to do it now.

I've never heard of Jordyn Morgan and he's listed as an OR starter at Safety. I doubt he starts but there is definitely an OR next to the names of the two guys listed ahead of him.

Anybody hearing anything about Johnny Wilson? Was really excited about him when he committed a couple years ago. Hopefully we're just not hearing much due to the depth in front of him, but thought I'd ask if there's any word (positive or negative) that I've missed.

Still think Simmons starts at guard, Schweiger at Tackle.
Simmons looks like an nfl prospect at guard, just a mammoth dude who's mean.

I know Campbell has chewed him on effort stuff in the past, hopefully he has it all figured out. BUT Schweiger is no slouch.. that is an interesting battle.

To me the O lineman with the most to prove this year is easily Trevor Downing. We all know he's really talented.

Campbell likes to play mind games with the depth chart releases. Probably just reminding Simmons to finish strong. I can't see him not starting but we will see.

I could see Schweiger being kind of a utility lineman. Not a starter, but plays starter snaps rotating between LG, C, RG, RT. Just move him around and give guys a series off. Now, that's not usually done...coaches seem to like to play their starting 5 until garbage time. And it would definitely be strange to do that to a returning starter that got some all-conference mentions. I just think that he's more versatile than any OL we have.

More likely, we play the starters for most of the game and when someone gets dinged up, we have a replacement with no drop off, whether it's Simmons, Schweiger or Remsburg.

The only reason Downing has a lot to prove is that he was out last year. When you have 5 returning starters and the guy who sat injured last year displaces one of them in the starting lineup, that tells me that the staff is happy with what he can do.

Agreed. We have never had depth like this on the o-line, so we actually have enough people that we can have a utility guy give someone a series off at times. You're right, Schweiger is the perfect guy for that. He already has experience at LG, RG, and RT. I would feel comfortable with Simmons at RG and Remsburg at RT, with Schweiger as a backup. Ramos can be a utility guy as well, but it's great that he has been practicing at center just in case anything happens to Newell.

I know I’m bringing up Iowa but if you look at their weights, man are they small compared to Iowa State it’s crazy… just compare the lines and you’ll see we almost have 20-40 pound difference. Never in my life I would see Iowa State beat Iowa in weight wise. Crazy times.

Lindebaum is absolutely a stud for them though. I wouldn’t lump him in with that group.

You guys are all underestimating Schweiger. He’s one of our top 3 OL this year…. I’m pretty confident he’ll be starting. He’s 2nd team All Big 12 and 1st team Academic All Big 12…. and an experienced senior.

Would he be our only starter now that was a walk on? Not counting special teams.

Jared Rus at fullback. And I don't think we are underestimating Schweiger, we are just saying that the o-line is THAT good. Honestly I think that Remsburg has huge potential. Simmons as well if he can cut down on the penalties. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised in Schweiger was a starter.
