Missouri has gone from one of my favorite teams in the Big 12 to one I will cheer against every time they play (like Nebraska).

It could be worse. I'd hate to be Colorado. What if you left the conference you've been in for decades and NOBODY cared? Nobody fought to keep you, nobody called you greedy, ungrateful, irrational, emotional attention-whores. Nobody made you their least favorite team for abandoning your traditions, your region, etc.

You just...left. And you joined a conference that keeps flirting with your old conference partners.

By most measures, CU had been more successful (at least in the in the B12) than Missouri. Yet we get scorn, and they get...nothing.

THAT would really suck.

Dear Missouri,

Obviously the SEC wants someone else more or they would have already invited you.

You currently look like the ugly, drunk chick at the part throwing herself at all the hot guys. I'm guessing you are OK with being someone's second (or fifteenth) choice. But, you are embarassing yourself and the rest of the conference.

Please get some self respect. If the SEC spurns you like the Big 10 did do you plan on hitting on the Pac 12 or ACC?

You know what the conference realignment discussion needs? More references to chicks, marriage, and dating. Not only are they original, but these metaphors accurately capture the dynamics between several different bureaucratic organizations on a multi-million dollar, multi-year business agreement.

Fire Jamie Pollard! Hire Chuck Woolery!

I'll take any odds that we're announced to the SEC by Xmas. But if not, you're right. ACC, Pac-12, WVU's spot in the Big Least, junior-junior membership in the B1G, the MAC, WAC, and Pacific Coast Conference, the Missouri Valley, the Patriot League, we'll hit on all of 'em. We want out.

The Big 12 is not a good fit for us anymore.

The Big 12 is not a good fit for us anymore because they don't like us enough. And now that the SEC has mentioned us the BIG isn't a good fit either. And if the SEC spurns us, they won't be either.

FIFY.

Why is the SEC a better fit?

The B12 is better fit geographically and for recruiting. You have complained about being slighted by the powers that be in B12 but in reality if you look at the haves and have nots then MU has been in the middle. Which is probably going to be the case in the SEC as well.

SEC has been more stable and offers more money. So if that is what you mean by a better fit then fine. The stability issue is a case of a self fulfilling prophecy routinely spouted by the schools who are leaving. If stability was really an issue for schools then why are other schools wanting to join? The real reason is because of the money.

I'm not going to bang on MU to leave for more money but because every school would leave for more money. But don't **** down our backs and tell us its raining by spouting off and saying UT this and OU that. The only reason MU is in this position is because SEC wants MU's TV market. Good for you I'd be lying if I didn't wish ISU had that inherent advantage. But MU fan's hjgh and mighty attitude is a farce when you look the real reasons that this is all happening.

Go to the SEC, live long and prosper, but in the end realize you are where you are at because you have TV sets not because of something exceptional that MU did or because the SEC really likes you but you are just another piece for them to assimilate and could care less about any negative impact to MU just as long as they benefit from your TV market.

Misery is like that party slut that openly throws herself to everybody, but everybody is just standing around waiting to take her home once they realize nobody else is available. They've already been turned down by the best looking guy there (Big Ten), the second best looking person (SEC) is thinking about it, but is still looking for somebody just a little bit hotter, but time is running out. The party slut's current boyfriend (Big 12) is fed up with her annoying attitude and has already found a much better looking replacement (WVU). But, they don't want to be mean and kick MIZ to the curb, so they are hoping the SEC just takes them and the Big 12 can hook up with much better looking ladies.

1. I am confident that the SEC will exist in the same form (or maybe 2 teams larger) for the next several years. I can't say that about the Big 12.

2. Other schools want to join because stability is a relative thing. Compared to the dying Big East, the not-yet-dead Big 12 seems like a good deal (not that the WVU fans aren't worried about Big 12 stability...they are). Notice that no teams from other BCS leagues besides the Big East are looking at joining the Big 12...even when they make geographic or historical sense. (like Arkansas)

3. Missouri can fit in any conference. The northern part of the state looks like rural Iowa. The southern part is Ozark country, and looks like Arkansas (frighteningly so). STL has always looked east, and emulated the cities of the rust belt. KC has looked west, to cities like Denver and San Francisco. No matter where we go, some part of the state will fit in. And other parts won't.

4. We are in this position for 3 reasons: one - Missouri has a lot of TVs not currently watching SEC football; two - MU is not handcuffed to another school in its state; and three - thirteen is an odd number. Fourteen is not.

It doesn't have anything to do with on-field performance, or with academics. The fact that Missouri doesn't suck in FB or MBB and that we're AAU are bonuses, but not reasons for inviting us. If those things mattered, then Boise St. would already be in a conference, and nobody would pay to watch ND.

So the SEC values Missouri's TV market. Great...that's more consideration than we ever got from the Big 12.

I'd argue with you, but you argue with yourself pretty well.

CU Later originally named Colorado left for only $7M smackers, less than Nebby at $9M and one-fourth of aTm. UT and OU turned the money back into the big spot as it was filthy money. CU is now humming along at 1-6. How is recruiting going? The Creighton U has better sports now.

I bet MO fans are already tuning in LSU and Alabama games and not watching the second half of the MO games at this moment.

That's actually kinda funny.

Seriously, I think Missouri fit in with the Big 8 very well. And with the Big 12, at least for a while. Had the Big 12 been managed better, maybe we still would. Who knows?

I guess my point is that since the state "resembles" several different parts of America, as the only big state university, MU could fit into the B1G, B12, or SEC equally well. The B1G doesn't want us, the B12 is just about to that point...what does that leave?
