Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie is now officially a god over at Warner Bros. Personally, I'm a continuity junkie, so I'm not super thrilled about all these stand-alone movies they keep talking about. However, I am intrigued with seeing Phoenix in the Joker role. The dude is kind of mad in real life, so he is a perfect fit.

The budget is $55 million, which is very close to what the first Deadpool cost to make ($58 million). This could be a good palate cleanser for WB/DC to make some easy money and win back some fans and critics with a more character-focused movie.

First trailer for the new Titans series has been released and it surprisingly needs a NSFW warning, due to language and violence.

Is anyone like me where they were fairly underwhelmed by the Aquaman trailer (looked too CGIey and fake), yet really loved the Shazam trailer??? The weird part of that statement is that I came in expecting the exact opposite to happen. While I still think the Shazam costume looks stupid, I at least get now where it comes from to make it a bit more sensible. Maybe my favorite part about the Shazam trailer was how it truly gave me that "Big" movie vibe, and it helps that "Big" is still one of my all-time favorite movies.

I’m with you. I thought Shazam looked absolutely great and Aquaman looked kind of “meh.” I think Shazam and the new Godzilla trailer were the highlights of SDCC.

Not DCEU related, but I did take my daughter to Teen Titans Go to the Movies this past week. I came in hoping it would be similar fun to what I had at The Lego Batman movie, buuuuuttttt..... not even close. Maybe I'm just too old and the movie just isn't made for me, but I did NOT like that movie. Even my daughter struggled with it and the humor within it. Kind of a bummer. I really loved the Lego Batman Movie, but not sure what everyone loves so much about these Teen Titans cartoons.... whatever. To each their own.

Ruby Rose has been announced as Kate Kane/Batwoman. She will appear in the crossover episode of Flash/Arrow/Supergirl before starring in her own series on the CW.

Looks like a pretty spot-on casting. Truthfully though, I think Ruby would have been better off holding out a bit longer for a movie role. With all the female superhero movies coming down the pipes, she easily could make a few of those lists, particularly a lot of those Birds of Prey roles.

On a separate note, just saw Mission Impossible: Fallout last night and man, I love Rebecca Ferguson. I really hope she lands some type of superhero role here soon. She was always my #1 choice for Captain Marvel.

Now that James Gunn is pretty much officially a no-go over at Marvel/Disney, here is to hoping he switches sides over to DC, particularly with a Booster Gold movie. Shoot, I've even already found the perfect actor for the role: https://www.instagram.com/parttimeadult/?hl=en
His name is Alex "Pooch" Puccinelli. The dude isn't really well known at all, but I've heard him on a podcast where is is practically Booster Gold in real life, he looks exactly like him, he is a monstrous comic book nerd, and he really really is lobbying for the part. It is his dream job. Anyway, check out his instagram and you'll see what I'm talking about. Shoot, the dude's instagram name is Parttimeadult. What is more Booster Gold than that?

Well, latest Affleck update is that he pretty much looks to be a big mess and heading back to alcohol treatment again. Not gonna lie, not just overweight, but he looks pretty awful in those pictures. Dealing first-hand with having a friend in a similar situation in my life, I really hope he finds the help he needs. Regardless, things are NOT looking promising right now for any future Affleck projects, which would include any involvement in the new Batman movie, no matter how minimal that involvement would be.

Alec Baldwin has been cast as Thomas Wayne (Batman's Dad) in the Joaquin Phoenix "Joker" film.

The cast for Joker so far:
Joaquin Phoenix
Alec Baldwin
Robert De Niro
Zazie Beets (Domino in Deadpool 2)
Marc Maron (Stand-up comedian)

In other DC news, Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron from the new Star Wars films) met with Warner Bros to discuss a role in The Batman - leading to speculation that he will replace Ben Affleck as Batman.
