Could it be that Heacock is waiting on a head coaching gig prior to accepting our job? I know there has been some chatter about dotting "i"s and crossing "t"s as well as family considerations, but wondering if at his age he has 1 last shot at another head gig and he's playing that out.

Watching Toledo's defense in their bowl game (sample size 1) I liked the aggressive look.

Wouldnt most OC/DC candidates want to bring in some coaches with them? Seems unusual that you'd take a job and kinda be the odd man out ie no Toledo connection. Wont matter to me as I'm #AllIn #MerryChristmasCyclONEnation

I think the only hold up is family considerations. I would think the bitter taste of getting passed over for the head job at Toledo for Candle would negate any Toledo loyalty, and most head jobs are filled for next year - any any that may be open have not had his name attached at all. The big question will be whether the increase in pay, and the chance to coach in a P5 conference, outweighs the desire to not move your family.

And Heacock is the odd man out with Campbell. Their relationship is relatively new compared with the rest of the staff I think?

When he was on staff at Purdue....Quoting Coach Hazell - "Jon is a master at teaching the game. The players under his direction will understand the concepts and schemes of the defense so well that they will be an extension of the coaching staff on the field. His enthusiasm and professionalism will have an immediate impact on our team and help us excel right away. He has recruited the Midwest and Florida with phenomenal results."

Appreciate the quote. Given purdues recent success, I question the phenomenal recruiting part.

Maybe taking a few hours off for Christmas with their respective families. I wouldn't expect an announcement until the 26th, which is a total guess on my part.

Good point. I forget that these guys have families and probably want some sense of normalcy during these times.

We're waiting for Tom Herman to come back as offensive coordinator, or Les miles.
