Forever. I love David Carr but 74 kg is Burroughs for another cycle. You know, the guy that just won the Pan Ams. If he didn't go it would be Dake, Dieringer, or Valencia. Once again, love what Carr just did but you really left the station prematurely with that comment.
David wont take one, but olympic redshirts are not just for guys who are likely to make the team. Mekhi Lewis, Jaydin Eierman, Max Dean, Vito Arujau etc. are taking olympic redhshirts and are not going to be threats to make the team.

They simply can be valuable tools in the long term freestyle development of some athletes.

Also... referring to Burroughs as "the guy that just won Pan Ams" is not exactly describing JB the way he deserves! Pan Ams are a cake walk for him. How about the 4 time world champ and olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs

While everyone is so interested in the Junior world’s, i thought it might be worthwhile to bring up Gomez.

Last year Gomez won the spot to represent the US at junior worlds. Unfortunately he was hurt and unable to compete. In order to make the team he beat Vito Arujau 2 of 3 times. This year, Vito made the team and brought home a silver medal.

I think the current performance is relevant because this will be Burroughs third Olympic cycle. He’s wrestling at the highest level late in his career.

Olympic redshirts also help teams get a second redshirt on a guy to get their team more points at nationals over a longer period of time. Fix will take one so they can move Brock and G back down and wrestle Llewellen at 49. Fix can then come back at 25 and stick Lee in the finals to keep him from being a 4 timer. Eierman will be back after Mauller and Mocco have another year of seasoning and they should be into big points as well.

I just hope Carr can do what the last junior gold medalist did the following year at NCAAs.

A historically great performance for our program. This is big. How do we feel this will affect his preseason ranking? With 157 clearing out at the top, I really like his prospects.
