The Dallas Morning News puts out a daily paper called "Quick DFW" which condenses the full newspaper down to about 20-24 pages... they had a quick Big XII football preview in it today so I thought I'd share. Doesn't seem to be too out of line with what most people are saying... surprised they picked Tech over Texas (I'm used to homerism in the DMN paper)... Just one person's opinions:

I don't mind being a team no one expects to do anything. That can easily lead to surprises... unless we do worse than last year, which would only be another surprise (which won't happen).

Bottom line....yes we have a new quarterback and we shouldn't be rated higher than 5th in the north...i agree

I could see some fans of kNowledgeWorld being a little upset with that ranking, especially the loss to KSU...

Definitely biased towards the South (expected), but a pretty good write up. I think 4-8 is a very fair prediction for us.

I'd say that Mizzou is shaping up to be the media darling this year. Eveyone will love to talk about how Pinkel was nearly out of a job and now has things turned around. They'll love to talk about Chase Daniel for Heisman. And of couse the build up to an OU vs MU BigXII title game.

The reason why it's being talked about is because it's the most likely thing to happen. Is anyone from the North going to challenge Missouri? Kansas maybe, but that's it. Is anyone going to challenge Oklahoma? Maybe Texas, maybe Tech, but that's it. Will Missouri be 12-0? Maybe, maybe not. But as far as the top 4-5 in conference this year, that ascertation is pretty easy. It's picking the order of the next 8 teams that's the bigger challenge.

Look at the big 12 north last year...it was K-State's and Nebraska's to win and looked whate played out.

And ISU did a pretty good job at Mizzou last year..just saying you never know.

Picking Mizzou to beat Oklahoma in the Big XII title game is really a stretch. There is still a huge difference in talent between the two teams - last year's Big XII championship game between the two wasn't even close...

Yep. I'm not doubting how good they are.

I think we have a great shot at taking out Missouri in Ames this year. We played surprisingly well down there last season, I think our guys are confident against them. And Gary Pinkel is still their coach. Yes, I know they're tuff as rain, but I'm not scared. I doubt our players are, either.

They have some strange predictions. They predict our only Big 12 win will be at K-State but also predict K-State will beat Nebraksa. And only 1 team in the south will be worse than 8-4...I don't see that happening.

But overall, for just a 1 page writeup...seems fair with a little bit of expected South bias.

Right, no way 5 or 6 south teams goes 8-4 or better. I'm also still not buying a winning season for Colorado.

Call me crazy, but I just don't see us losing to Baylor, even if it is at Waco. I think everyone seems to forget that not only is Baylor terrible, but they are also going through a coaching change. Even with our road woes, it always seems like we've been able to win at Baylor, and I think that trend continues.

If we can lose to Baylor at home, we can sure as hell lose to them on the road - regardless of how bad they are.
