Well written article but I was a little surprised to see Hines pick WV vs. Buffalo as a key non-conference game.

6th place is fair, hard to argue we deserve to be preseason ranked any higher than that.

I think Texas is always overrated in everything they do, so I might put us above them, but thats just a small quibble.

Usually there isn't much difference in the Big 12 from places 3-6.

Georges' senior year we were seeded 6th in KC and made the Sweet 16.

I'd rather read 1,000 articles by Hines before I read another sentence from the Randy Peterson. Hines knows basketball more than any media member in the metro, by a long ways. 6th gets us in the tournament around a 8/9 seed which everyone would sign up when you consider how last season went.

Lard has an excellent chance to be considered one of the best 10 players in the Big 12 by seasons end. No one doubts his physical ability. Barring injury, his focus will determine his future.

Agreed. That seems to be a pretty accurate take on the Cyclones. Some serious individual talent, unknown how they'll mesh, not a lot of proven shooters, but a chance to be very good if they jell well.

I agree that Wigginton playing point is interesting. He didn't show the vision of Babb and Wigginton often just put his head down and drove to the cup without looking for the drive and kick or drive and dump last year. I think we're better with Babb playing point, but I wonder if Wigginton will feel compelled to try and play point for his future NBA chances. I'm not sure if he's a first team all Big 12er like some of you, but if he is at the end of the year, that will be a good sign.

"Texas also welcomes a top-10 recruiting class and Elijah Mitrou-Long, a Mount St. Mary’s transfer who averaged 15 points per game as a sophomore."

Isn't this Naz's brother? Hadn't heard about this before.

It is. It’ll be interesting to see how he plays at UT.

Yes it is, Naz's lil bro. He sat out last year. Curious to see how much time he sees.

Not following, what makes so much sense?
St. Thomas is an all boys military/college prep academy in St. Paul. In my experience with most I've met, they are very uppity, and a good amount of people I know that grew up in MN feel the same way.

apologies to any St. Thomas Alum that may be in the community haha

Huggins brought in a ton of talent, and was quoted as saying he has the best front court in the country-and it isnt even close.

Huggins has also said this is best team he's ever had, so if WVU cant sweep kansas this year, it likely wont until it gets put on probation for cheating.

Huggins brought in key people, tall, fast, great wingspans designed to defend kansas outside.

I'm a big Konate fan, and I know West Virginia is kind of a next-man-in w/o a lot of drop-off type of place, but I'll be interested to see how they do without Carter. That's a tough player to replace
