Last night the Sixers blew a big lead but managed to hold on to beat Orlando. Georges is seeing more reduced minutes with the starters back from injuries and COVID. He had 8 PT on 3-9 shooting in 15 minutes - lots of good looks but his last few wouldn't fall. With Embiid back, they're now 1 game over .500.

An early 3 from Georges:

Monte started and the Nuggets built a huge lead but ended up beating Miami just by nine. Still, a good road win. Big Game had a very Monte-like performance -- 28 MIN, 11 PT, 5-9 FG, 6 AST and 0 TO. His minutes were probably impacted by hots hands in the game by Campazzo and Bones Hyland. Monte's 3PT % has climbed up to 32.5% from the 20s so he's trending in the right direction.

I checked on our guy Naz in the Italian League. His Brescia team started out pretty rough and is 3-6 in league play but Naz is their leading scorer so far:

In 4 "Cup" games (in-season tournament), he's averaging 14 ppg but in the league, scoring at a 17ppg clip isn't bad. He's shooting 32% from 3 and 53% overall.

I'd forgotten that his mom has Greek heritage so, assuming he has an EU passport, he won't count against the limit on foreigners, which is to his advantage.

I checked on Lindell Wigginton with the Wisconsin Herd of the G League. He made the roster and is wearing number 28 like so many ... great running backs.

For some reason, his stats for the season aren't on his G League profile but I saw he had 10 pts in 23 minutes off the bench in their last game. Probably not the journey to stardom that he had envisioned coming out of high school. He did have a 24-point game early in the year.

Two weeks ago, if you had asked me who'd be shooting the ball better, the current Cyclones or the Cyclones in the NBA, I would not have picked the guys in Ames. But they looked great in Brooklyn while the program's alums have been cold in the NBA.

Last night, THT returned to the Lakers' line-up because LeBron entered COVID protocols, so it was an opportunity for increased playing time. His Lakers beat Tyrese's Kings by 25 but Talen had a rough stat line: 16 MIN, 2 PT, 1-3 FG, 2 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK and 3 TO.

Tyrese
is still cold from the field but did start and contribute: 32 MIN, 6 PT, 2-10 FG, 5 REB, 6 AST, 2 STL, and 3 TO. He did have the best +/- of the starters at -1.

Nader is still listed as out to rehab his knee. The Suns picked up a big win vs. Golden State.

2 Bulls are out with cases of COVID and Z. LaVine is nursing an injury. Could there finally be a window for Matty Ice to play some meaningful minutes? Probably not but at some point, I hope he gets the chance to prove his value.

Nice to see Georges bringing back the old-man-at-the-Y game. He had a really good first half back in his home state.

Cold shooting from 3, solid scoring and close losses for both Niang and Morris last night in the NBA.

The Nuggets had maybe their worst loss of the season with Jokic in the lineup as they blew a 20+-pt lead to Orlando. "Monte Mid-Range" started and had his highest point total of the season so far: 34 MIN, 22 PT, 10-15 FG, 1-5 3PT, 2 REB, 2 AST, 1 BLK and 3 TO.

I got to watch most of Georges' minutes in the 76ers' close battle (88-87 loss) with the Celtics. He was solid throughout but couldn't hit from deep; he used the Minivan's driving skills to contribute a solid scoring line: 19 MIN, 12 PT, 4-9 FG, 0-5 3PT, 4-4 FT, 1 REB and 1 BLK.

Dare I say that Georges has actually become a GOOD defender? His quickness in help D rotations are really solid. He's defensively very aware; he's reading the other team's sets very well.

The Kings bounced back last night with a solid win over the Clippers and Haliburton was a big reason why, bringing in a double-double: 40 MIN, 12 PT, 5-13 FG, 2-9 3PT, 1 REB, 11 AST and 0 TO (out Monte-ing Monte)

You have to be able to run the PNR to be a guard in the NBA:

Tyrese, with a look that I could not rock:

The Lakers lost to the Clippers last night to drop to .500. Talen started along with LeBron James and, well, clearly doesn't have the ball in his hands as much in that scenario. His shooting in 28 MIN: 8 PT, 4-9 FG, 0-4 3PT.

If I have the right date, since LeBron returned from his injury, THT's scoring has been 2, 8, 0, 8, 7, 12, 2 and 8.

In the 3 games before that stretch, he had 17, 28 and 25 points.

For the season, he's shooting 25.6% from 3. I have to wonder how much his wrist injury might be affecting his release.
