The CF poll was one of 8 lists which were averaged together. Norm is good but not sure he is 1 or 2 seed good.

The lists were crazy different as one had Carlin in the 40's.

Yeah I'm not sure I'd put his stand up that high although there's great stuff out there.

His legend status is more SNL or trolling people on talk shows etc.

I imagine age will play a part. I remember him from SNL first, but then he leapt into the forefront with Delirious and Raw and that hit me during my formative years. Conversely, I was too young for Richard Pryor's prime material, but I had to dip back into it so I'd appreciate it.

I just wonder if those born in the 80's have much appreciation for Eddie's stand-up or just "know it exists" and know him more for his movies.
Providing at least 1 data point for your last sentence:

I was born in '88 and the very first thing that comes to my mind when I hear Eddie Murphy is... Shrek. I've seen him in a bunch more, and know he did stand up, but for whatever reason that damn animated donkey is the first role of his that comes to mind.

The second thing that comes to mind is Charlie Murphy, thanks to those amazing segments on The Chapelle Show.

I personally put Norm at #12 in my ranking. I think Norm has some great stand up, but putting him in a top 3 seed would be a reward for his other stuff outside of stand up.
