Anyone out there have experience listening to Cyclone basketball on satellite radio recently? Because of new job on west coast I'm going to be commuting during a huge chunk of our weekday games. Are pretty much all of our games available on it?

Also any hardware suggestions? I don't have it built into my car so will be buying a unit but also like the idea that it could be somewhat portable. Do they allow you to log in to listen online anywhere as well? I was looking at this unit but would upgrade if some features make it worth it:

I'll be driving through some mountains about 20% of the time but mostly highway suburbia, no tunnels.

TIA

I don't have much for hardware suggestions, I think it's all pretty much the same since the music associations bullied them into getting rid of recordable software/hardware products and the merger with XM.

They should carry just about all of the basketball games, but you may have to listen to the opposing team's feed.

Even if you can't get the games, there is enough other stuff to listen to that if you are commuting it's worth your time and money.

Internet streaming is an extra cost, you can download an app or do it from your computer

I've thought about asking about this for the JP section of the call in show with John Walters. Why does it seem like ISU never has their feed on SiriusXM? Unless I am looking in the wrong channels but it appears like the opposing team always gets the nod over our feed on the Big 12 channels on SiriusXM.

Thanks for advice so far. I'd rather not pay for an additional online subscription (as I already have way too many between cyclones.tv, hulu, amazon prime, etc...) so I'm wondering if there's a good radio or kit to have set up both in my car and in my office where I could bring it back and forth easily? My office should get decent reception with lots of windows.

You can listen to the games on your phone with the Cyclones app.

I think the cyclone broadcasts are never aired because of Cyclones.TV. I would assume all that audio would be owned by ISU and probably have to be negotiated by Sirius or whomever to actually stream it. Most other schools don't much care since they don't monetize it with a cable network or online subscription. Unless you're Texas.

As for the actual topic at hand, I have little to offer. I have SiriusXM free for a few months from a car purchase, and I like it. It comes with phone and internet streaming and apps so you can listen anywhere. I have noticed I lose a signal just driving through downtown Des Moines. The buildings are tall enough to interfere. I have yet to actually tune into the Big 12 sports channels, but there are two of them per conference plus a multitude of others. Though I am finding out right now that they are unavailable to stream from my computer. That whatever you want from my measly experience

Agree - by far the best approach.

Even if I had unlimited data I wouldn't get a good consistent signal on my drive and would be quite maddening, map and traffic apps don't even run continuously for me let alone internet audio. I have had Cyclones.tv subscription since before it was even an thing so believe me I would love if I could just do that (I used to pay $7.99 a month to Yahoo for Cyclones radio broadcasts way back in the day). Added bonus is NBA/MLB and other NCAA games on this too.

I got the unit tonight, got a home kit and car kit and the plan is the take it into the office with me for the early games that are 4pm west coast time...then out the door into the car for the second half. Will report back how it works. Thanks for advice all.

I use the SiriusXM app on my phone, even when I'm in my car that has XM hardware. The app has DVR functionality - pause, rewind, etc, Slight delay in broadcasts.
