Agreed, these should be separate.

Plus, can't really do credit stimuli and keep the levels around, or else everyone will be level 100 and you might as well ditch the level system completely at that point.

Yeah I'd be fine with levels just going away.

What would really be cool, though maybe tough behind the scenes, would be to make the level system a formula of (total rep points)/(total # of posts).

That way, you would completely eliminate the "full rep bar problem" and get a better gauge of who a solid poster is. That way, newbies with a high rep per post would stand out against some of the CF punching bags that have just been here forever and slowly racked up a bunch of rep and appear good via the rep bar.

Except for the fact that giving rep is limited... at some point people can't rep the good posters because theyve repped them already (you'll see posts all the time of 'can't rep you, so i'm commenting here')

Ah, I guess I just assumed it was a set period of time, in that you've repped them too much, too recently. I didn't know you could only give a set amount to a particular poster.

To better differentiate between the bookie credits and what you get from your seniority, post count, activity, etc - I've put in a separate CyCash that will be used for betting and placing bets will not impact your other points/levels/achievements. I'm starting everybody out at 500,000 points, all new users will start with 50,000 points. I am re-running the algorithms to calculate the prior values to offset those points bet in the past 24 hours and the levels will re-adjust as well.

Thanks for the feedback and please wait several hours for all the numbers to finish calculating.

Thanks - and before people ask, once the numbers are done crunching, I'll add the comma to the CyCash display values.

But I like not having a rank.

Edit: Do our old bets based off of points stay?

The bets you placed in the past 24 hours will essentially be free - if you win, you get the points back, if you don't, you aren't out anything. It just isn't a good use of time to manually adjust based on those bets.
