One more recipe:

Make some bread dough. For me, I like breadmakers for their ability to painlessly turn out nearly perfect dough. I just set it on "make dough", throw in a cup of water, 2 tbsp of olive oil, a tsp of salt, 2 tbsp of dried milk, 3 cups of flour and 3 tsp of yeast, and 1.5 hours later, viola! Bread dough. If you don't have a breadmaker, shame on you; you can get them for free on trash day, or for $5-$10 at Goodwill. If you like suffering, use Betty Crocker or any other bread recipe and do it by hand.

Divide the dough into 4 equal sized balls, and flatten them as much as you can, or care to. Put goat cheese or feta in 1/2 of them, sprinkle some "greek" or "tsatsiki" seasoning on the cheese, and drizzle some olive oil on the cheese. Fold the dough over, making sure to get a good seal on the edge, and put it into a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes or until done.

Our family goes nuts for these. Here's some pics!

These are awesome hot out of the oven, and are quite good cold. Have fun with the filling and try putting your own stuff in there for homemade hot pockets.

These look fantastic. I would love to learn bread making. Bread is one of my favorite things on earth.

I earned a Bread project award in 4-H, and that was way before anyone probably even thought of inventing a bread machine. The act of making good yeast bread is a real arm strengthener.

One more recipe before I go.

One time, I ran out of rice, and substituted Bulgar Wheat for a cup of rice. Bulgar wheat is chewy where rice is soft, so it adds an entirely new dimension to rice dishes.

So instead of rice, I take:

1 cup rice
1 cup bulgar wheat
3 cups water
Olive oil according to taste
3 cubes chicken or beef bullion
2 tsp curry powder
Whatever else you have lying about to make it interesting.

Bring this mess to a boil, and then simmer covered for 20 minutes.

Stir is once with a fork when done and serve.

It's amazing how good just about anything tastes when prepared this way. I've lived through times where I ate some truly questionable things by cooking them in this rice/wheat concoction and they all ended up tasting good.

And, men, if you really want to make an impression, learn to make a few dishes, and handle the preparation implements like you know how. It will really impress the ladies.

(But not as much as 200 baby puppies will, but that's another story....)

I was told to do this, but with Greek women. However, the pickens were slim around here and I went anglo. The Greek community was devastated, but I kind like her anyway. =)

Once you go Anglo, you will glow

Once you go Greek, you will peak

Once you go Italian, you become a stallion

All winners, no losers.
