That's a fair opinion but facts are Self has lost to 4 10+ seeds and a 9 seed in 11 years. You can't to totally ignore that.
No one is ignoring it. That's the point. The only person that's ignoring anything is you, who is ignoring the ridiculous amount of success that Self has had. "But, but, but he lost to some double digit seeds...." Every time I sit in AFH and look at all the banners that Self has hung in there I get over those losses really quick. You can try to bait me into badmouthing Self all you want but you are wasting your time. Everyone else here seems to realize that but you. MOVE ON.

Again that's fair but he did go to two national titles and a final 4. They are at least comparable.
Do you think that ISU fans would have been as happy losing in the Big 12 tourney Finals last year as they were with winning? "But it's at least comparable..." Come on, man.

So how far back in this do I have to go to find out anything about where this kid might be transferring to?

^EDIT: Thanks GTO.

Overall, I feel that Bill and KU have underachieved post season while doing a great and spectacular job regular season.

Roy Williams not winning a national title with the talent he had on the '97, '02 and '03 teams will always go down as one of the most unacceptable things I have experienced as a KU fan. They had no business losing to anyone in '97. Their only loss prior to the tourney was with their PG out with a broken wrist and even that was only @Mizzou by 2 points in double OT. Ridiculous. The only person that could stop Paul Pierce in college basketball? ROY WILLIAMS.

Think you're confusing Jacque Vaughn with Jerod Haase. Vaughn missed a chunk of the early season but he played in the MU loss. Haase missed the majority of the Arizona game with the wrist injury.

97 was rough but that was running into the wrong team at wrong time. Haase not playing certainly hurt. That Arizona team beat three 1 seeds (KU, UNC, UK) to win it all. I think they're still the only team to ever do that.

Whatever I'm done with this. I made my point a long time ago and supported it with facts to back it up. It's like talking to a brick wall.

Can the mods add this one to the emoticons? I've had a few discussions in the past where it would have come in handy!

I thought Vaughn was out for Mizzou. Looks like he was back from his broken wrist for about a month by then. As for Arizona, still no excuse. KU should have been the team that Arizona was unfortunate enough to run into. They were far and away the best team in college basketball that year and Roy couldn't get it done.

Overall, I feel that in the seasons that Self didn't make it to the Elite Eight or better that he has underachieved in the tourney. There, I'll give you that. What a nice and reasonable level of expectation it is for Bill Self to be considered to be an underachiever if he doesn't make the Elite Eight every year.

Lousy excuse. I know that is what Self keeps spouting, but you have to know deep down that is not the real reason why.
What benefit is there to Kansas in playing that game that isn't gained in playing against a good non-con team in a different part of the country?

So what is the real reason? WSU is good. Losing to them wouldn't impact KU.

The Shockers ended the series back in the 90's when they weren't any good. They want it back now that they're competitive again. Call it arrogant or whatever, but KU is the Big Dog in the state of Kansas. If WSU wants the game so bad, then they're going to have to do it on KU's terms.

Fear that losing to WSU is:

1. Embarrasing (especially if at home).
2. Could potentially make WSU steal some KU recruits.

If you are the big dog, with the high recruiting class, and playing an opponent which would not negatively affect your RPI, then what is the problem? Spank them and put them in their place. Instead Self is being a ***** about it. Be a man.
